Resumen del Editor

A teenage genius and his teacher take listeners on a wild ride to the extremes of mathematics.

Everyone has stared at the crumpled page of a math assignment and wondered, where on earth will I ever use this? It turns out, Earth is precisely the place. As teen math prodigy Agnijo Banerjee and his teacher David Darling reveal, complex math surrounds us. If we think long enough about the universe, we're left not with material stuff, but a ghostly and beautiful set of equations.

Packed with puzzles and paradoxes, mind-bending concepts, and surprising solutions, Weird Math leads us from a lyrical exploration of mathematics in our universe to profound questions about God, chance, and infinity. A magical introduction to the mysteries of math, it will entrance beginners and seasoned mathematicians alike.

Enjoyable and Fascinating

I would highly recommend this book. It is easy to listen to and follow, even though it covers deep reflections of the world of mathematics. The authors make the topic of math both accessible and highly entertaining.

A collection of headlines.

This book is a collection of neat physics/mathematics, but you would get the same read if you picked up any math journal and read the title. Math is great and has some very cool implications, but the author fails to deliver on any sort of educational experience. In short, the book just does no deliver an engaging experience mathematically, especially since there is more physics than math present!

sometimes less is more

Overall i was disappointed with what looked like a very promising approach for a book.
The authors go through a vast array of enticing complex topics in math, the unfortunate approach though is to impress the reader with the claims and skip any logical sequence of why and how these amazing connections manifest themselves.
Its a bit like the typical high school approach, "we talk about the most complex things, however since we never take the time to lay any foundations we just stuff it down your throat ..."
Out of fairness, there are a few gems in the book, so its not a waste. Unfortunately they are rare sparse spread
