Resumen del Editor

Twenty years ago, not one nation on earth had legal same-sex marriage. Now, access to same-sex marriage is increasingly seen as a basic human right. In a matter of less than a generation, western cultures have experienced a moral revolution.

Dr. R. Albert Mohler examines how this transformation occurred, revealing the underlying cultural shifts behind this revolution: the acceptance of divorce culture, liberation of sex from reproduction, the prevalence of heterosexual cohabitation, the normalization of homosexuality, and the rise of the transgender movement. He then offers a deep look at how the Bible and Christian moral tradition provide a comprehensive understanding upon which Christians can build their personal lives, their marriages, church ministry, and cultural engagement.

Dr. Mohler helps Christians in their understanding of the underlying issues of this significant cultural shift and how to face the challenge of believing faithfully, living faithfully, and engaging the culture faithfully in light of this massive change.

Lots of historical information

The historical information and the chapter on tough questions makes this book very valuable. He also confronts theological liberals' attempts to re-interpret the Bible in order to make it say the exact opposite of what it means. I did not agree with his statist position on marriage. I believe in the separation of marriage and state. The statist position is a money stealing scam for marriage "license" offices and to rob single people of government benefits since spouses of government employees usually get benefits while deceased single individuals (who payed the same taxes) are robbed of benefit transfers to another adult.

Necessary

Mohler addresses the critical changes within American culture regarding sexuality, gender, marriage, conception, and examines them in light of Scripture and history. This book is most necessary in our time.

Well Balanced

If you could sum up We Cannot Be Silent in three words, what would they be?

Well balanced without being compromising. Some books on this topic would specialize in "its one minute to midnight" hype. This book does not.

Any additional comments?

Mature and balanced. Raises concerns without being sensationalistic

The Gospel Truth!

I accidentally stumbled upon "We Cannot Be Silent" on the Internet, yesterday (04/08/2019), while searching for biblical scriptures pertaining to gay marriage. I'd never heard of the author of the book; it was the book's title that screamed out, "Please listen to me!" When I read the book synopsis on Amazon.com website I was shocked that another human being besides myself (a born again believer & published author) was brave enough to publish a book regarding same sex marriage that would stir up controversy. I downloaded the audio version via Amazon Audible and listened to R. Albert Mohler, Jr.'s powerful 'life saving' message - nonstop! I'm of the impression that Mohler is a true man or child of God, because of the OUTSTANDING JOB he did explaining WHY Christians or believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ should not be afraid to 'stand firmly' on God's word in this 'modern' world. "WE CANNOT BE SILENT" IS A MUST READ! I love the audio version!

Biblical response to many contemporary trends

Albert Mohler masterfully responds to many important issues facing the church in the west especially same sex marriage and the general acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle. He uses sound, Scriptural theology combined with solid reasoning. My only complaint is that he did not do the audio recording himself!

Snapshot of current culture struggles

Enjoyed the book! Very insightful of the current shift in today's culture. The book provides a comprehensive snapshot of historical events that highlight how culture is ever changing away from human flourishing.

Good but missed on some crucial points.

Al Mohler is solid but swings and misses on a couple things. For example he says that sexual orientation can be a sin for a heterosexual person. Although I think he was trying to make a broader point in relationship to homosexual sin, I think he missed the mark by stating and using the terminology sexual orientation.
