Resumen del Editor

A racially diverse youth soccer team comprised largely of immigrant players from a multitude of different countries, races, and religions comes together to achieve the unthinkable in this entertaining true account of inclusion, acceptance, and brotherhood on the tattered road to victory. The story tells how this diverse collection of immigrant boys and their families bonded with the existing White American players and families, coming together to overcome numerous challenges, adversity, and racism. Though they had little in common, other than their love of the game, they became an extended family of sorts and learned to embrace one another and celebrate their differences on their path to winning several state championships. A truly inspirational story for our country and our world and a unifying message for these turbulent times.

Numerous newspaper and magazine articles have talked about it, and now this riveting book, We All Wore Blue, is the true account of a youth soccer team in Washington state that transformed over several seasons into a team comprised largely of immigrants from around the globe, representing a myriad of different countries, most races, and major religions. The story tells how these immigrant boys and families bonded with the middle-class White kids and their families, coming together and dealing with numerous challenges, great adversity, and racism. Though they had little in common other than their love of the game, they became an extended family of sorts and learned to embrace one another and celebrate their differences on their path to winning two State Championships.

A truly inspirational story that will surely be enjoyed by all—those who have played, coached, or been involved with any youth sport, and especially those who love the "beautiful game", soccer.

Heartfelt summer read

I love when I find a hidden gem! This book was recommended to me by a friend and I am delighted to say it was an absolute joy to read. “We All Wore Blue” is a story about inclusivity, the struggle to fit in as a kid and the profound impact one small soccer team can have on a community. Reading this book brought back so many fond memories of my childhood playing AYSO soccer…orange slices, weekend tournaments and tons of laughs. The story, as told by Coach Skip, vacillates between imagery of intense matches and accounts of family gatherings and touching moments between teammates. If you love sports and enjoy uplifting true stories- this is the book for you!

Great read!

We All Wore Blue by Emerson Robbins is an inspiring read. While it mainly focuses on a soccer team that went on to win a championship, it is more than that. This is a story of a group of young players who came together, from middle-class white families and immigrant families which bonded very well to form a formidable team. The players unite, putting aside their race, nationality, and religious differences. The book was a passionate read and the author was able to blend moments of humor with some of the real-world struggles that his players faced.
