Much of this history I have lived through too. What makes this book so outstanding is that Mr. Abdul-Jabbar has taken footpaths and paved them so that all readers can experience this journey with him. What makes this book so effective is that through Mr. Abdul-Jabbar’s thoughtful stories and experiences, he engages us equally with a macro and micro view of these histories and shows how all civil rights are human rights. I highly recommend all of Mr. Abdul-Jabbar’s writings, but this wonderful text is his capstone. Did Mr. Abdul-Jabbar play basketball 🏀 too? That’s nice. However, I think of him as a kind and thoughtful humanitarian first.
