Coming this summer, the sequel you’ve all b-b-been waiting for....

Their foothold established, Reach and the soldiers sent to secure Amir have only begun to repair the destruction inflicted on them by hostile neighbors when a terrifying new threat emerges from the deep woods and dark jungles of Amir itself. Something so lethal and evasive, not even Brody can seem to take it down....

New threats and old enemies arrive as more mysteries of this new home world are uncovered, and with them, clues to humanity’s own mysterious past.

Wayward Galaxy 2 is the explosive sequel to the blockbuster first book that had sci-fi listeners calling for more. Don’t miss this next installment featuring the gritty combat of Galaxy’s Edge combined with the world-building intrigue of the Renegade Star series performed by award-winning R.C. Bray.

Thanks for making me relive my time at the movie theaters and walking down the aisles at Block Buster. Brody is now living in the back of my mind shouting movie lines...so thanks fot that. 😝
One guy you missed was Patrick Swayze. Sure you mentioned Red Dawn (1984) but what about Uncommon Valor (1983) and my personal favorite Steel Dawn (1987). Don't forget Peter Griffin's personal favorite ROADHOUSE! (1989)

Brody is in my brain!

Another great book! Little hidden gem within the Author's Notes so I recommend listening to it.

Incredible team up of RC Bray with Anspach and Chaney expands the adventure in this Sequel. The dedication to military realism in a imaginative, fantastic environment is a hallmark of everything Anspach and Co. does and even more so in this installment. As an adult who stuttered badly as a kid…Br, Br, Brody is so fun. And Jason, as for action hero: Sigourney Weaver belongs in the top!

W,W,W,Wayward Galaxy 2…Ama, Amazing!

My only criticism for any of these titles is some of the use of vernacular is incorrect. For example, SPC is short for Specialist and when used is verbalized as Specialist, not S - P - C.

There were others that stand out to any veteran but I'm enjoying the stories too much to keep a list going.

After hearing both booos 1 & 2now, definitely feel book 1 was superior...solid 4.5 stars vs. merely 4.0 for book 2. RC Bray brought this to life and honestly probably raised the story from a 3.0 to a 4.0...he is just that good...Wayward Galaxy & we as listeners are all better off bc of Lord Bray!

but without giving too much away for spoilers here is why I ding it a star:

the book started off decently but a little unexpected after the way book 1 was left off. it was kind of dull and I was really looking forward to the momentum established in the wayward galaxy of book 1. didnt know what to expect heading into book 1 and it was a bit of a mix of Avatar (ie, the planet Pandora) meets Predator (especially into book 2) and yet was original enough to stand on its own. so there was a bit of a let down with how things started.

but it was the middle part of the book that introduced many new characters rapidly and I got very lost through much of the heart of the book. i eventually sort of got the gist but I was shocked at how things progressed at times and had to relisten multiple times. this was likely my biggest complaint. but Bray being Bray kept me interested enough to re listen several times.

the end of the story was merely ok. there were several aspects i was left wondering about (spoiler alerts here)...

1. who were the mystery group of "neutrals" with advanced tech? my guess is they are from earth from the more recent past, maybe remnants from the war. at first I thought they were going to be recent American forces with faster ships and more tech that didn't take 40 years to arrive but maybe FTL that got them there in months. who knows. but I definitely wanted more involvement with them.

2. whatever happened to the doctor who defected...seemed to be primed for a major role and then nothing. thought he would partner with the Alexa and Brody's dad (blanking out on his name lol).

3. speaking of doctor, the end of the book was a shock and will look forward to what happens next with him and of they get (assume they will) the communications working for earth. or at least with the mystery group.

lastly, as per the request from the authors discussion at the end...here are some 80s & 90s movies that would be worth incorporating. by the way...definitely keeps the story interesting with the 1 liners and references! I'll give some movies and also lines next:

1. the last starfighter ("greetings starfighter! you have been recruited by the Kodan armada!" or "Yolanda baby!" or "death blossom" or "wee-ta-nah!")

2. back to the future movies! "1.21 gigawatts! mcfly! what are you lookin at butthead! I'm Darth Vader from the planet Vulcan!"

3. star wars?! "look at the size of that thing! help me Obi-Wan! you'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy! these aren't the druids you're looking for. move along! no...I am your father!" (really so many!)

4. commando (you already got many of them but here are a few more): "this is my weak arm sulley! I let him go. I eat green berets for breakfast and right now I'm very hungry!"

5. terminator (again you got many but here were a few more lines): "nice night for a walk eh! no clean clothes! Sarah connah?"

if I think of more I'll update this!

definitely keep the books coming! looking forward to how things unfold. hopefully the constructive criticism is well received :)

Good, but not as good as book 1. room to improve
