A very well written story, touching on women abuse which is unfortunately occurs too often even in present times. The story take place during the civil war in the US and also touch on the brutality against slaves. I liked the heroine strength inspire of what she endures and how the hero eventually overcome his anger.

Unexpected gem
This is not a normal frivolous historical romance. It had a lot more depth and some more serious subject matter while still being really enjoyable to listen to. Such a nice surprise. Definitely recommend this book.

I have never cared for war stories and definitely not the civil war but you handled it quite well; with only touches of the true horror that war is, to give an inkling of what the characters lived through.
