Resumen del Editor

In Warfighter, Colonel Jesse L. Johnson, one of the most decorated living American veterans, recounts the action-packed true-life tale of a man who stood and fought at the crossroads of history. Spanning forty years of conflict, from the jungles of Vietnam to the deserts of Iran and Iraq, never has a modern military memoir covered such a vast landscape of all-out warfare. Never has one man fought on the frontlines of so many of America's most heroic battles. Johnson led the most elite forces on operations that defined eras past and present, mentoring young soldiers who would rise to become some of America's greatest generals. He held the ear of princes, kings, presidents, and even Hollywood movie stars.

With an all-star cast worthy of an epic war film, this extraordinary hero's journey sheds new light on some of the most transformative events of our time—crises, conflicts, and covert operations that have shaped the world as we know it today. More important, Warfighter offers us a deeper understanding of the personal sacrifice and human toll of a lifetime at war, and the honor-bound code of a man whose instinct in battle was to always charge ahead of those under his command—into the fight.

Riveting Memoir of an American Hero

Warfighter: The Story of an American Fighting Man is a captivating and thought-provoking biography/memoir that follows the story of former Delta Force Deputy Commander Colonel Jessie Johnson. Written by Alex Holstein and Col Johnson, the book offers a unique and intimate look at the life of this American hero. From the jungles of Vietnam to Eagle Claw in the Iranian desert, culminating in Desert Shield / Desert Storm, Col Johnson was involved in the most high-profile military actions of the 20th century.
One of the standout aspects of Warfighter is the level of detail and authenticity that the authors use to bring the story to life. The book is based on extensive research by Alex Holstein and interviews with other Delta Force operators, and it shows in the realistic and gritty portrayal of military life. From the grueling training regimen to the intense and dangerous missions in the field, the authors paint a vivid picture of Col Johnson’s life.

In terms of tempo, the book is well-paced and engaging, with plenty of action and tension to keep readers invested. The authors do a good job of building suspense and keeping the story moving forward, and the climax of Col Johnson’s career with Delta Force in Desert Shield / Desert Storm is satisfying and powerful.

Overall, Warfighter: The Story of an American Fighting Man is a compelling and thought-provoking read that offers an intimate and authentic look at the life of a modern-day hero. With its vivid portrayal of special operators and intense experiences of combat's impact, this book is a must-read for anyone interested in the realities of war.

Ain"t I Great!

Colonel Jesse Johnson’s “Warfighter” is well-written and well-narrated - for sure, a good read, but I was left skeptical at the end. Colonel Johnson certainly deserves thanks for his long service in the U.S. Army. I would add my thanks, too. However, as a career military officer and Vietnam vet, myself, I found Colonel Johnson’s self-absorption with his medals, self-descriptions of his heroism, and unabashed name-dropping over the top - so much so that I regarded his biography as a clear-cut case of the Walter Mitty Syndrome. At times, I wondered if he was serving his country or himself. Typically, such veneration is best left for others to extol. At some point, Colonel Johnson’s military exploits became unbelievable to me. Interestingly, I noted reviews from people who professed to know the facts who said that Colonel Johnson’s accounts were exaggerated, misinterpreted, or simply pure fiction. It seemed that way to me.
