I loved this book.

The characters were so realistic it was like living amongst them in the small town community. Lynne Gentry has now been added to my list of favorite authors. I can’t wait to begin the next one in the series.

Sweet and touching

This was a touching story about a pastor’s wife who suddenly finds herself a widow and gets a second chance to find herself and mend things with the family she has left. Relatable characters, true-to-life conflicts, and plenty of warm-fuzzy feelings. This author’s books are always a treasure- nice to hear her voice tell it.

What a great story… And all of the languages is refreshingly clean.

This story reminds me of Jan Karon’s Father Tim, his town(s), and that cast of characters. I am very pleased to see that the author has more books in this series.

I liked that the author read the story she wrote about. The emotios and emphasis was there when it was needed.

I can really HEAR these characters.

The author can really write dialogue—and even self-talk. Her characters each have distinctive voices. She writes FAMILY and GENERATIONAL issues well — both the good and the flaws found therein. I could recognize parts of my own crew in hers, even though we’d never met.

Brilliant!

This is an award-winning movie in the making! I laughed out loud, cried a few tears, repented, and said amen several times as I listened to the author read Walking Shoes on my way home to the small southern town where I grew up! Heartwarming and insightful! Can hardly wait to read more of her books!

Sweet story, not so sweet narrative performance..

The author's gravelly narration was at times hard to listen to in this audible version, especially when the author's voice trails off at the end of a character's sentence or thoughts. It frequently made it difficult to catch apparent emphasis or nuances the author surely wanted the listener to grasp in the telling details of a particular scene...left me dissappointed with my book choice. The author may think better in promoting her written work than speaking it.
