"In wilderness is the preservation of the world. Life consists with wilderness. The most alive is the wildest. Not yet subdued to man, its presence refreshes him." Philosopher and writer Henry David Thoreau preferred to contemplate the nature of man and his environment while walking.Public Domain (P)1988 Recorded Books, Inc. Reseñas editoriales

The essay "Walking" is a crucial work in Henry David Thoreau's bibliography. In one of the many occasions in which Thoreau read this essay out loud, he prefaced it by saying, "I regard this as a sort of introduction to all that I may write hereafter". Indeed in this short piece the listener will be able to hear many of Thoreau's recurring themes: man's relationship to nature, nature in conjunction with civilization, nature as a teacher of life. This short audiobook is only an hour long and it is the perfect companion for a listener who enjoys the outdoors and wants to honor the environment.
