Keep scrolling by this one!
Encountering a poorly written book is an oddity for me, but this one definitely fits the category of all tell and nothing else. Hard to believe this is an award-winning author, as this level of flat writing is what one would expect from a school assignment in the middle grades, although even my average students can craft more enticing sentences. The text is a steady stream of he did, he sat, he did again, w/o a single bit of emotion, depth, or active verbage. (NOTE: I couldn't bear another word after the 5th chapter, so my review is entirely based on what I experienced in chapters 1-5.)
