Absolutely Suspenseful!

This was a quick suspenseful audible book which kept me interested until the very end! I started the series with book 4 which felt like a stand alone novel. I will follow up with another book in this Edgar Family Novel series, but not in order. “Unmasked” will probably be my next Audible. I recommend Suzanne Ferrell novels to anyone who enjoy suspense mixed in with romance.
I enjoyed book 4 which was well done and looking forward to the next audible.

Great

Abby and Luke are an unlikely pair with history. But wonderful writing and a natural story arc move along this fast paced with with all the Edgars family to find Abby’s missing friend and finally crack the case of the suspicious senator. This one is very worth the listen with the same excellent narrator who gives distinct voices to each character.

Good story well narrated but

The story was well told spoiled by cheap unnecessary distasteful descriptions of sex and violence

Luke, Phenomenal! Abby, Meh!

This was a pretty good story overall, plot was awesome and narrator Boehmer knocks it out the park. Unfortunately the heroine, Abigail, was a lot more like the so-called "strong" female characters I really dislike, kinda "meh"! Much more asking dumb questions, or the same questions, ad nauseum because she refused to see the answers. That attitude is totally Impractical while Abby is steadily proclaimed to be Practical🤷🏾. It seems like some "formulaic editor-type" got hold of the author and said "you need to dumb Abby down, make her more emotional (vapid) because that makes her more relatable!" I know for a fact that happens and that advice needs to go to the same place toilet paper does...why? Because it changes the author's signature style that has distinguished them as being above the crowd of wannabes into a formulaic literary rendition of creepy cloning. Example: (insert name) cries a lot, can't bear to think that (insert situation), asks same question while already knowing answer (insert pg#, pp#, pg#, ch#). These formulaic literary equations Are Not Why people return for the author's next book. And they are Insulting to female characters, as if being too smart is a sin.

The Edgars men "love" women who are Strong, smart, capable (cook, kick butt, "decide" if they're going to figure out the villain or simply do what's needed when it's needed, like picking a lock, driving in slick mud/snow or sewing a wound closed). Abby is entering a family that is loving, supportive, takes down bad guys and does what it takes to heal themselves and others. So why can't a woman with a photographic memory Not put clues together!! I know for a fact such people's minds put puzzles together while they sleep and when something is missing/unanswered, it chafes at them, like running water against a rock.

Luke was phenomenal! Proving to be my absolute favorite brother. Sooo glad to see him step up and show out!!😁

One last thing...is there any other endearment than "sweetheart"? It's not bad, just usually brothers try to actively distinguish themselves from each other, even in little things!
