Emma Lewis has a lot on her plate. The single mother of two precocious twin boys, the last thing Emma needs is a man in her life, especially a doctor. So when the town's doctor goes on vacation and his handsome nephew takes over, Emma is shocked to not only find him standing in her bedroom, but accusing her of being a neglectful parent.
Clint Preston came to Westen for the year to fill in as the town doc while his uncle took a long-needed vacation. Clint also needed a sense of peace and calm to try to find his passion for medicine burned out by long shifts in an urban hospital's ER. Angered to find two boys in his clinic with broken wrists and no accompanying parent, he is determined to confront their mother. The feisty redhead he meets quickly dispels his belief that she's a neglectful mother, but he can see her situation is more critical than she wishes to face and finds himself volunteering to help care for her sons and the remodeling of her home.
As Emma and Clint forge a relationship, a menace from Emma's past threatens her and her sons. Clint and Emma join forces to prevent the loss of either boy and the love they've discovered in each other's arms.

You'll cheer for Emma as she struggles to deal with everything on her plate. You'll also root for Clint once he gets his head out of his rear end. You'll also snicker at the antics of the twins. We're introduced to a number of secondary characters that will have their own stories down the road...each of them dealing with their own problems as best they can.
All in all, this is an amazing story and you'll enjoy it immensely. It certainly doesn't disappoint

What I liked: The narration was really believable and the different voices were easy to follow. I enjoyed listening to both the slight variances as well as times where more drama was needed to express the personalities of each character that displayed the narrator's prowess with character development without over acting. This a compliment, not only to the narrator, but also to the author whose distinctive character deliniation brought to life each character's personality. I applaud the author for well described character personalities.
I enjoyed this story a great deal as I can understand the trials and difficulties which were thrown at the main female character, Emma, whose resilience seemed to know no bounds through hardship and since having her lively twin boys. I respect her for facing up to the fact that in her past marriage she gave so much acquiescence to the consciousnessless husband whose betrayal new no bounds. She faced those dark days and became a force of incredible strength for her twin boys.
Dislikes: While Clint, the "Doc", was a force for good, a sweetheart, and a passionate yet wounded warrior, at some point, his endless patience for all of Emma's tantrums and deeply instilled trust issues was starting to become hard to believe. I know she was f***ed over astronomically by her ex, but Dr. Clint was almost too understanding when it came to all of Emma's load of baggage and trust issues. Her family loved her and was supportive as well as those in her small country town yet as much as she seemed to love Clint, she kind of took her trust issues out on him many times.
I enjoyed this book a lot...enough for 4 stars. I enjoyed the narration and the story, especially the antics of the twins. lol. I would recommend this to those who enjoy some romance and a few twists and turns that reflect the true grit in the trials of life. Definitely worth a credit!
great characters, a little predictable

Top it off with a defiantly stupid heroine who tries to mess everything up.... and I'm sorry I wasted a credit on this mess.
ludicrous situations

However the town, the people and the males in the story did help, and were very endearing. I’m curious to watch their lives develop so I will push on to the next story with bated breathe that it gets better.
Frustrating females

Single mother romance kind of.
Main female character works 2 jobs and has twin boys to watch with her elder mother. Everything starts out with her boys walking them selfs over to the clinic after hurting themselves. Mom is sleeping at this time and the new doctor is not happy to hear that she’s not with them. He puts himself in the position to threaten her to be aware of her children and be around to keep an eye on things. He finds out more about her over time and learns more about there story.
Character review
Main male character is a doctor who is a jerk. I’m not a fan of him. When he finds two boys with broken wrist from jumping out of a tree. He goes to yell at the mother. Without hearing her side. Even when he finds out she is not at fault. He still judges her for not doing more. He comes off borderline threatening her. Which any single mother worries about this when they work their ass off and always feel it’s not enough. Even as he’s character grows. Comes off as a jerk at times and controlling. Near the end, he gets better.
Main female character is a strong woman at times then weak at others. The guy is an ass and she still gives him a chance. Her sons breaks a bone and she does not give them more then early bed time. Her logic at times is questionable.
Two children in this story need professional help. They put them selves in dangerous situations and it’s not addressed. Like jumping out of a tree to hurt themselves. Or jumping in a freezing lake when they don’t know how to swim. It’s sounds like they are trying to kill themselves. I would get them a therapist.
Side characters had no depth to them. The whole book was around the main characters. I felt like a little extra storyline to those who played parts would make the story better. They just pop in and out without much explaining who they are. Who’s watching the kids and are they good. Who is the neighbor and what is their name? The cop who looks odd but possible competition. What’s he’s story. Other than names. I felt like not much was added on.
The storyline is eh. Feels like some situations are not normal reactions. Like how the doctor acts. He works in a professional emergency room and a busy hospital. But when he goes to a small town. He starts to step out of his position and act unprofessional. The mother has a strange man walk into her house while she is sleeping and does not react in any way other then, how can I help you. This was not a smooth telling and parts felt out of place. The kids hurting themselves. It would be more placed if they did by accident. Rather than yes, I tried to hurt myself. But no reactions by anyone. I was not a fan of the characters in this story and found myself forcing myself to finish this.
The romance of this book was eh… ok maybe. Did not feel anything to positive.
Narrator review
Not my favorite but not bad. Felt like this was not the right book to be reading for the voice but in reality there was nothing majorly wrong with it.
Would I recommend this book?
No not for me but maybe for some others. If you’re a single parent or have any feminist bone in you. Then I suggest you not read this. I found myself judging actions rather than enjoying.
I’m not a fan of leaving negative reviews but eventually, there’s gotta be one.
