"This is the beginning of a great new series by Agatha Frost. It was unputdownable! I can not wait for the next book!" - Amazon Reviewer

ONE DECISION CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING...Claire Harris loves nothing more than crafting homemade candles. She has always dreamed of one day opening a quaint candle shop in her home village of Northash, but at thirty-five, she still can't afford to take the risk. Stuck in a dead-end job at the local candle factory, and back living with her parents, Claire knows her life needs a shakeup. The last place she expected change to come from was the factory itself, but when the owner is shockingly pushed to her death, Claire's life is flipped upside down. She isn't the only person in the village depending on the factory, so when the murder plunges the business's future into uncertainty, Claire feels compelled to solve the crime. With the help of her retired-detective father and closest friends, Claire uncovers a tangled web of conspiracies, cover-ups, secrets, and lies, but can she uncover the truth before her candle shop dream slips through her fingers forever?

The writing is good and the characters developed and relatable. I like the banter between Damon and Agatha. I will be adding this series to my playlist! The Ai voice wasn’t as bad as I expected but I much prefer a good voice actor. Much of the nuances of sarcasm and emotion in the characters voices are lost. It’s a bit flat and the rhythm of some spoken dialogue doesn’t match. Plus everyone has the same voice. Real voice actors bring different voices and manner of speaking to each character which helps to make the story telling come alive.

Good writing and character development

I liked the feel of closeness in the village and I didn’t like the flip side of that, in which everyone is in every one else’s business.

What really surprised me was the killer.

The story itself is good with lots of twists. It is too bad authors are having their work spoiled by a company using virtual voice when there are excellent real-live people who can provide an excellent immersive experience when listening to auduble books. With virtual voice you're listening and all of a sudden you realize, "oh, wait, I just zoned out there for a while!" and you have to go back and find out when you were paying attention because it just drones on with little voice inflections, tone changes, pauses, correct pronunciation, and different character voices. Such a shame, what more is there to say?

Virtual Voice is unfortunate

I love Agatha’s cozy mysteries. I’m so glad that now I get them in audio form. This is the best virtual voice narration I have heard so far.

Best AI narration I’ve heard

Love that the main character isn't a super model but an everyday girl that is relatable

Fun!

I quite enjoyed this book-it was light reading and a nice change from what I have been reading. I didn’t even mind the virtual voice. The accent probably helped a lot.

Great story

Story was entertaining enough, decent cozy mystery. and Surprisingly AI voice was excellent! Never thought I would say that.

Narration with virtual voice, it makes the story sound drab and takes a lot out of the story. Virtual voice not a good fit for audio books 😒

nothing really
