Interesting, but I knew this already.

    Any additional comments?

I already knew most of what was discussed here and was already using it in my writing. I have 45 Master Characters and it drew pretty much from that book.

    Another fine seminar.

Like THE HERO'S TWO JOURNEYS, which Vogler did with Michael Hauge, this is a recording of a seminar. In this one, Volger goes into greater depth talking about-- and giving examples of-- the hero's journey, as well as some of the archetypal characters the hero meets along the way. He gives many examples from well-known films, although he stresses the way a novelist can use the same information in his or her book. One nice addition is that many of the attendees of the lecture were able to ask questions about applying what Vogler taught to their own stories. Very enlightening.

    This is really good

This is really good. It is what I was hoping for from The heroe’s two journey, that I didn’t really care for. But, this is great stuff. It is like having cliff notes to The Writer’s Journey.

The bad thing is the producers sign off, they say it is over and then the recording continues for another 40 minutes that is a repeat of an earlier part of the recording.

    Awesome seminar

Great seminar that goes through the basics of structure and dramaturgy, aswell as the most common archetypes. There is something in here for the beginner and the expert storyteller alike

    Excellent lecture with good points

Christopher Vogler breaks down his craft into easy to understand points and elaborates on them without causing any confusion or lack of fun. He is good and if you want to tell a story, then this lecture is worth listening to. My copy had a slight audio problem but the points got across nicely.

    Still great advice

I met Christopher Vogler at a writer's conference years ago and followed his advice to write novels. He is still spot on. I highly recommend following his suggestions

Use the Hero's 2 Journeys Instead

The ideas in this lecture are covered in "The Hero's 2 journeys." That lecture is a tag-team effort from Chris Vogel and Michael Hauge and covers much more ground. If you have already listened to that lecture and want more of Vogel's ideas, this lecture has a few extra details and a little more depth.

Tool for that stabilizing Kick to refine

after the first listening, I am replaying this short text over and over and over again... While I exercise, while I complete sculptures, even while I go for a meditative walk... I believe this will become an internalized component of my writing personality... Many suggestions are already a part of my thinking... Some are new to me. I'm excitedly looking forward to the time when I can jump back into my half completed novel and sharpen its direction and purpose. Thank you Christopher Volger for lighting my path!
