Resumen del Editor

In Upper Hand, celebrated founder and CEO of The Plug, Sherrell Dorsey, delivers a personal and eye-opening exploration of how to ensure that marginalized communities aren't left behind as technology continues its inexorable march forward. In the book, listeners will learn to think about how we can strategically shape the coming decade to include Black and Brown communities.

Upper Hand offers guidelines, insights, and frameworks for navigating the new world of work that is dominated by Silicon Valley-rooted technologies, inaccessible networks, and constant automation that continues to slash jobs in the Black and Latinx population. You'll find ways to help families and community leaders design clear pathways to understanding alternatives to obsolescence; thrive in an ever-changing, tech-driven economy that is beginning to leave people of color behind; and embrace new strategies that guarantee a place for Black and brown people in the new economy.

The startling and insightful discussion in Upper Hand will earn it a place in the libraries of families, teachers, community advocates, workforce development leaders, and professionals of color, as well as anyone interested in learning how to distribute the benefits of the new tech economy to those historically left out.

A great resource for persons interested in Tech

I really like how the different career paths in tech are broken for persons to know what to expect and how to prepare for their desired role. It was nice to know about the history of tech and the things that we can expect in the future. This book is a great resource for persons considering transitioning into tech or are curious about the tech industry.

The future of work for us, truly!

As a young Black immigrant in America who is actively seeking pathways to build a sustainable future for myself, my family and my community as a whole, I have come across several pieces of advice about transitioning into Tech, upskilling and evolving with the trends in order to stay employable and competitive.,

Sherrell’s book has been a valuable literature and action guide. It is insightful, as it is inspiring. From her grandfather’s journey, and lessons rooted in determination, to Sherrell’s tenacity to Be , this book stops at nothing to inspire you. It is truly informative as it is educative, providing actionable information and pointing you to where to look for further assistance and support. I recommend this book to everyone, especially members of minority groups!

Thank you Sherrell for speaking for the rest of Us!
