This alternative history novel begins with a mouse trying desperately to follow an ambulance occupied by a VIP being transported into a laboratory/clinic. It's Dec. 16, 1966. The day Walt Disney's body supposedly was placed into cryonic suspension.

He faces a momentous decision: a contractual provision requires a review, every five years, to assess whether enough medical advances would be feasible for reanimation. Although absent for 50 years, he has not been forgotten, figuratively or literally.

This poses questions that each of us may have to answer in our own lives as we measure ourselves against the changes wrought by medical and scientific progress. Moreover, who might enjoy being the first person to be revived to a functioning life more than Walter Elias Disney?

This new science fiction and fantasy novel exposes both Disney and curmudgeon mentor, celebrated icon Samuel Clemens aka Mark Twain (notorious for his way of yarn spinning) to numerous time travel and enlightening experiences - some predetermined, others not so much - all to ensure a heightened awareness of the possible pitfalls or foibles experienced herein:

• Disney and Clemens experience San Francisco's Haight Ashbury twice, 20 years apart.
• They are seen by dismayed Mission Control at NASA while on the moon.
• They listen to famed singer Joan Baez at Woodstock.
• They meet Steve Jobs at a garage sale.
• Twain realizes there is more than one Mark Twain on the Bonanza television set.
• There is a run-in with an Olympic runner and encounter an obnoxious biker with his unruly chick.
• They have a run-in with a bank robber, visit a nightclub, and find that an important tool is stolen.
• And of course, they visit both Disneyland and Disneyworld with hilarious and heartwarming outcomes.
• They interact with modern audiovisual technology and kitchen appliances, and anything can and does happen.
• They also experience the dismay of traumatic world-changing events and the pitfalls of not following dictates set forth prior to beginning the journey.

Unfatally Dead is based, in part, on actual events that happened to specific people and places and incorporate technological advances since 1966. Their journeys are unique, the characters endearing, and the situations have numerous unintended consequences leaving behind a trail of effects...all the way to a president's family.

To top it off, there is a naive new soul introduced: Eepia. Her mission is to keep the two from fracturing the timeline continuum during the ensuing time travel adventures. As an assigned mentor, Twain is not too pleased.

The spirit of this science fiction adventure is simply to remind us to embrace and celebrate life in the present, contemplate and examine the powerful options available tomorrow, and wonder if there is an alternative history possible?

Fun read!

Very interesting, but strange. Very strange.
The story takes the reader along on an expedition crafted for Walt Disney who was cryogenically preserved at death and must make a decision to return to earth or not. What follows from that is a tour of history from his death to the present as Disney is accompanied by a Mark Twain who behaves more like Loki and gets into trouble at every opportunity.
Jim Seybert is the very capable narrator.

A fanciful take of life after death and time travel too

There are many takes in the afterlife. This is a whimsical tale of the afterlife of Walt Disney and Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain). It’s got a cast of folks both real and imagined from Walt and Sam to the arch angel Gabriel, Steve Jobs, and many more. It’s a look at our history from walts death until now and is based on him having to decide to stay in heaven or be awakened and brought back from his cryogenic sleep. What a great romp it was. Truly enjoyable and highly amusing. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Unusually Amusing

This was an enjoyable jaunt through some of the historical events that have occurred in the past fifty years. This was the time passage since the death of Walt Disney. He is joined on his journey by Mark Twain. The two view events of importance that neither has seen. This journey is supposed to help Walt make up his mind on whether he wishes to return to life. Fifty years prior Disney entered a cryogenic state, and since his cancer could stand a chance of being treated, he now being brought back to life. I will not reveal the ending. The only negative I can take away from this delightful read is the reminder of one of my own miserable experiences. I happened to get caught in a Disney ride called "Its A Small World" as it broke down stranding us right in the middle. However, the music did not stop. Forty-five minutes later we emerged and it took months to get that tune out of my head. This book has again triggered that musical reminder and I sure hope it goes away soon. I received this book free for a fair and honest review.

Unfatally Dead

I enjoyed this book.It was a fun read! Walt Disney is thawed when his disease may be able to be managed after 50 years in cryogenics.This causes a disturbance in 'heaven'.He is sent to earth in 1 hour jaunts along with Mark Twain.They cause some trouble and meet some neat people.There is an 'unformed soul' along too,which just caused confusion.Is she real or not?Jim Seybert was a fine narrator once he got started.Wait a chapter or two before giving up on him,he gets better. was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.' 

A Christmas Carol Part Deux?

I had a weird feeling while listening to this book that I was in the middle of a modern version of Charles Dickenson's Christmas Carol. The story has nothing to do with Christmas, but follows Mark Twain and Walt Disney through time. They are plopped down into various scenes in different eras. The story is their reaction to each scenario. The book was OK, but not great. Though, I think it will appeal to a lot people.
The narration was fine.

Too much for me

I was expecting insightful soul searching, or reactions of historical figures to the modern world. And those aspects were there... sort of. But unlike other books in this genre, our protagonists are spectators for only glimpses of time. Maybe it was my mood today, but I could have done without vivid descriptions of terrible events... especially when there was no pattern or experiential element. Think a long news reel of tragic events with just enough positive events to make me think, oh it might be changing now.

This is not a book for the faint of heart. It has humorous moments. It was vivid depictions. But overall I found the philosophy at the end was a bit contrived, not the pinnacle of the argument as is the case in books of this genre which I enjoy.

Great Pair of Gentlemen Surfing the Waves of Time

Edmiston and narrated by Jim Seybert. The concept of Walt Disney and Mark Twain interacting with one another within snippets of history piqued my curiosity to listen to this book. I was not disappointed! It was a great story made more enjoyable by being narrated by Jim Seybert.
