Amelia's lost in space.
Trapped on the other side of a quantum gate she can't access. When she wakes up on an alien starship, her first order of business is going home. But that isn't as easy as it sounds. Between pirates and giant metal robots, Amelia has her work cut out for her.
And if she does get home . . . will she even recognize it?

These books are short but are VERY worth listening to.
The premise is good and the writing is crisp and easy to enjoy.
I listened and read with WhisperSync and the narrator really makes Amelia her own. Listen when you get the chance. It’s worth it.
I recommend this book highly, even with the cliffhanger(s). I’ve already started the next one. If you like well-written superhero stories, look no further. This guy writes really good stuff.
5 books in and still very interesting!

I HATE the stupidity of the combined governing bodies of the world and their historical abilities to make bad decisions… Haskell does a great job showcasing this seemingly inescapable reality…
Though I could be naive and ignorant of several variables…
Anyway, we see several issues and some of Amelia’s worst nightmares come to life. And she now has to fix some really stupid decisions.
Queen Beresford continues to do an amazing job and gives us a great performance bringing the book to life!
Thank you Haskell for giving us this specnominal story!!!
Heck of a welcome home party…!

The good thing about that is that we were not subjected to a book's worth of "find your way home from the distant star system", but the cost in narrative flow is considerable.
Once the super team is finally reunited, we transition into the usual sort of superhero "exploit the hero's weaknesses" plot, where the government is clueless and the supervillain is insane.
The main plot works well enough (within the conventions of the genre) that the introduction is at least partly mitigated. It flows fairly well (though the climax of the story passes in an aside), and resolves satisfactorily. And then there's the obligatory hook for the next book that starts a story without providing anything more than, "Bad thing is happening -- very bad thing!", which I cordially despise.
The gadgeteer protagonist of this series is done well*: she creates tech that allows her to compete with powered superheroes and continues to advance her power through iteration. It would seem, though, that the power to destroy a solar system might have required that power to be nerfed a bit, and this book provides that nerf.
Introduction and cliffhanger hook aside, this is an entertaining superhero book. It follows the genre conventions without being a simple copy of other properties. And the image of a giant, 8-armed Robo T-Rex is an entertaining one. (But eight tiny arms don't seem especially useful ... perhaps he needs to pull a sleigh? Wait, that's reindeer, not arms.)
The series is fun, but it's popcorn ... and it needs more salt and butter. This isn't a bad superhero series, but it's really only for after you've read through the better stuff that's out there.
* Drew Hayes's "Villain's Code" series does gadgeteer better, though.
