A southern lady telling tales

I’ve been a fan of designing women for years and Dixie Carter especially, her use of language and your style and Essex is to be admired. This biography even abridged is a wonderful listen also the fact that even though she is a very religious woman she never once makes u feel u must believe as she does or your wrong. Listen to this while walking around Atlanta and it was so enjoyable. Take the journey with her.

In Heaven while reading this audiobook

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes if the person likes a good memoir and loved Julia Sugarbaker on Designing Women. I LOVE Dixie Carter and I am sorry she is gone but this is a must read for any fan of hers. I just sorry it wasn't an unabridged version.

What other book might you compare Trying to Get to Heaven to and why?

Delta Style: Eve wasn't a size 6 and neither am I by: Delta Burke,
If I Knew Then What I Knew Now . . .So What? By: Estelle Getty,
Jeannie Out of the Bottle By: Barbara Eden,
I, Rhoda By: Valerie Harper

What about Dixie Carter’s performance did you like?

I LOVED the way she narrated the story it felt more like she was TELLING you the story then reading from a book. Also it felt like Dixie was talking to an old friend more that talking to a book listener.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I wasn't able to but I wanted to.

Any additional comments?

I am rereading this audio book again and probably will reread it again and again.

A watered down version

I’m sad that this is only excerpts of such a lovely book, but it certainly doesn’t diminish Dixie Carter’s quick wit, gentle insight, or southern charm. A fabulous albeit small listen!

Remembering Dixie

I had this on cassette and never got it transferred. I am happy to find it here so that my kids can enjoy it too.

Dixie is pure Southern charm that makes me want to see young ladies embrace this Southern style, charm, and intellect.

She is definitely missed.

Timeless and Singular

Simply put, this is one of my very favorite books ever written. I love the author, her intent, her wisdom, her candor and her her eternal beauty. I believe this book to be an apt reflection of Dixie’s dear soul.
