Acerca de esta escucha
When writer Barnaby Conrad checked into the Center, he knew time was running out for him. Now he brings us a riveting account of the 30 days that changed, and saved, his life and an intimate look into the secrets of the most famous drug and alcohol treatment center in the world.
©1992 Barnaby ConradReseñas de la Crítica
"Conrad is a skilled writer, and Christopher Lane conveys the details of his sophisticated professional and social lives, rife with authors, artists, and actors....Conrad's attempt to confront the truth of his experience and provide a cautionary tale succeeds in this production." (AudioFile)

interesting and honest
I must have read a different book than the other reviewers. I almost did not read it based on them. I did not find it gossipy at all. I thought it was an interesting memoir about Barnaby's experience. Also, as someone who has no addiction to alcohol, it shed some light on alcoholism that I did not know.

Engaging look into the recovery of an alchoholic
Would you listen to Time is All We Have again? Why?
Yes
Any additional comments?
Who'd have thought that Betty Ford personally inspected the clinic on a regular basis and got upset when the clinic wasn't cleaned by the patients or that they didn't coddle superstars? Great story of a '60's jet-setting author who enters reluctantly and eventually completes his stay. We don't learn what drove him to alcoholism but the poignant stories of those who didn't complete their stay reminds us of the grip that alcohol has over some and how it can destroy their life and affect their loved ones.

Not what I expected..
I am hard to please when it comes to this subject. Having been in active addiction for over 30 yrs, I know who is real or not. I only learned to recognize this through the past 14 yrs of living a program of recovery.
This is more of an "event in the life of " kind of book. It doesn't speak of how this disease affects every area of our lives as well as the ones around us. Just kept getting the vibe that this guy is not serious and not giving his disease and his program of recovery the attention it requires to recover. Seem to go off on tangents about famous people who have had a drinking problem.
It's very mild. No doubt that is what the author was looking to do. A decent story of an event that happened in one mans life.
But then again, I am very hard to please.

Recovery is good
humility is too. I don't know him as a celebrity which seems to be required to appreciate this book. Meh.
