Cool and unexpected twists--Loved it!
Would you consider the audio edition of Time Storm Shockwave to be better than the print version?
I thought so. I read the print version and enjoyed it but the narrator did a fantastic job of bringing the action and suspense of the book to life.
What other book might you compare Time Storm Shockwave to and why?
I'm not sure I can think of a comparison. This book was quite original. It had such a unique combination of science and urban legend that I'm not sure. It had time travel, mixed with the Bermuda Triangle. Maybe "Breakthrough" by Michael Grumley if I had to pick. Still I think this one is an entirely unique ride.
Which character – as performed by Alexander Edward Trefethen – was your favorite?
He did a fantastic job with the main character Mark. He made him seem 3 dimensional. I loved the fact that he could do the romance scenes without making him lose his masculinity.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I found the scene before Mark attempts to stop the Admiral from using the time machine to be particularly moving. The narrator did a great job of making you forget he was there reading--in a good way. You could be alone with the book. Some narrators get in the way but the one did a great job. I felt as if I was really there.
Any additional comments?
I found the book truly heart pounding once it got through the initial set up, which was necessary for the storyline. I was reading at night and honestly couldn't go to sleep until I finished it. I loved the twist at the end.

It is light handed with plenty of action
Two scientists working on a yacht near the Bermuda Triangle discover many anomalies that lead them to the undeniable conclusion that we are not the first advanced civilization to inhabit the earth. Their research is interrupted by cloned assassins, an overzealous military and magnetic storms that decimate the earth. They have no choice but to continue to search under the sea for answers to find a way to save themselves and the human race.
This novel is a love story wrapped in science fiction. The brilliant, handsome and rich scientist meets the beautiful, brilliant and deadly assassin on one of their stops at port. The romance is too perfect, so an evil cloned version of the brilliant goddess is randomly inserted. The Jekyll and Hyde switch is often confusing and makes the reader question the scientist’s character and survival instincts. The beautiful assassin for all her skills is riddled with doubt and insecurities, and her clone is just too perfectly evil and not particularly good at killing people.
Without spoiling the plot, one could say it gets unnecessarily complicated and the author introduces many ideas that are left unexplored; such as time travel, changing the future, slowing time down, and most interesting, the Atlantean culture. We are often left to our own devices to fill in the many blanks.
The love story pervades the novel, but leaves the reader unsatisfied. We are told how much they love each other over and over, but they don’t seem to fit well together. There is innuendo that they consummate their love, but maybe not. There is plenty of time for them to “do it,” but no sex scene. I’m neither squeamish nor a romance fan, but this one seemed to be crying for a steamy erotic encounter.
The novel is read by Alexander Edward Trefethen, who has a beautiful voice that resonates with each sentence. You can almost hear a smile in his tone that sounds somehow disconnected from the story. He is excellent and a pleasure to listen to, but might have been a bad match for this novel. Listen to a sample and make your own decision.
Time Storm is an entertaining read with flaws. It is light handed with plenty of action. The science sounds plausible enough, except for the Atlantean stuff, which is pure speculation. If you like your Scifi underwater and touched with spy romance, this might be just your thing.
