Resumen del Editor

In his plebe year at the prestigious US Naval Academy, Nick’s world comes to a screeching halt. A sudden collapse lands him in the famous Walter Reed psych ward, where he must finally face the overwhelming grief and anger he feels about his father’s marital infidelity. In rehab, with the help of his therapist and mother, Nick slowly comes to terms with the cascade of secrets, loss, and trauma created by his own father’s many extramarital affairs.

Nick’s coming-of-age journey highlights the paralyzing pain of parental infidelity, a significant emotional and mental health problem in the United States, one that forces us to recognize that infidelity harms a whole family, not just a marriage. Through Nick’s eyes, we are reminded of the healing nature of connection, as well as the power of true leadership, purpose, and family.

They dismiss it and say,

I've tried to control this uncontrollable illness for the most of my adult life and am now 55. Knowing that I'm not "broken" as I've been telling myself I was all these years is a relief. I've learned a few "hacks" to help me cover up my flaws, but it wasn't until I noticed that my 3-year-old granddaughter had a longer attention span than I had that I recognized I needed to discover some new strategies for managing my ADHD.

A Healing Odyssey

Since I buy books but never finish them, I'm delighted it's accessible on audio.

In 2017, I turned 52 and received a diagnosis. It's been an emotional roller coaster. I've listened to a lot of podcasts, but this book gave me a straight approach to find behaviors. As I reflect on my previous "failures" and realize I was unaware of how my brain operates differently, I can understand why Bette ran out. There are numerous options to consider, but it is often advised to choose only a few. I'm aware that not every tip will be effective for me, but experimentation is the key.

Emotional Catharsis Through Audiobook

It's challenging to be an ADHD lady in today's society. It's difficult for individuals like me who have it to function when everyone thinks it's a huge joke, which I've discovered is worse than them not understanding at all. They dismiss it and say, "Oh, it's not as serious as she claims," even if it is. I believe there has to be greater public education on the subject and the fact that both men and women may develop it, and that it can start later in life.

A Profound Tale of Resilience

I've been puzzling about why some things are so challenging for me. My therapist suggested that I could have ADHD (inattentive), but we haven't been able to get a formal diagnosis just yet. This book truly helped me understand why I behave the way I do, and I have to admit that it was not only confirming but also caused me to cry a little with relief since things now make sense. This book is for you if, like me, you are afraid to use stimulant medications and are seeking for other strategies to manage this problem.

Emotional Resilience Unveiled

The information in this book can be applied to both men and women as well as children, but because it is geared toward women, it demonstrates how ADHD can specifically impact Daly's relationships with her family, coworkers, and partners in the areas of work and sex. Additionally explains that women might have ADHD in addition to hormone-related effects on women. Being a man, I found it to be both extremely interesting and enlightening to hear about some of the stigma associated with ADHD in general.
