Non-stop action

The story is only 8hrs, but there is a short 2hr berserker tanker novella at the end, which imo is very good.

Also, while the Ryzer story continies, I feel like even though the stakes were higher than ever, the overall plot quality is declining I think because of the need to connect the character to the over global plot. You really feel the contrast against the novella which is just as good as any of the authors other works.

Still, if you have listened so far, you probably like this and won't be disappointed by the non-stop action, and the narrator continues to output brilliant work.

Ok ... now everyone is dead.

The mil sci-fi action and pew pew pew remains the same glorious fast-paced and brutal as the past 3 books buuuuut with the death, sacrifice, slaughter of every other supporting character other than MC the defeat fest and snach victory in the miserable end for promotion, medals and a bottle of booze for the 4th time just depressing. You like character X and interested in where they go ... nope dead. A cool new character or funny side character... nope dead. A badass soldier... dead, a new boot struggling and growing ...dead, a tacbot with a quirky personality... dead, a leader or commander you like or detest ... dead, even a fricken robot scout dog ... dead

Everyone and everything ... dead. The MC Springs to the same MC although apparently, off page walked thru raider select and training off page but there is no change to the meat grinder death fest of the Marines of previous books ....HUD message SGT blah blah KIA, CPL blah blah KIA ... as a vet I get it, large scale pew pew pew is a meat grinder but new skills, new toys, special forces badassery was lacking aaannndd ... everyone dead.

I re listened to the whole series as I noticed the new book after a long time and fanboy of the series and excited to where the Raider potential badassery could take me ... everyone dead

The development of the synth thing is good, but missing a decent back story to the synth wars, defeat and victory, where they've been other than "ruling the galaxy" from the shadows and GenHella has flipped into a treasonous genocidal limp wristed tool with boo hoo dead son issues - pffft

The next book hopefully can give us some small unit victorious SF badassery, new toys and cool gadgets and gear, interesting supporting characters (.... that don't die), no BS princess romance, and less PVT blah blah KIA HUD messages and endless valient last stands, going down with ship, sacrificial acts, sudden death in battle and fricken whole planets exploding.

Overall recommended for a read in the continued series but expect everyones dead, promotion, medals and misery with a shag at the end again.

Lost me with the S&M brain demons

The first three books were exceptional. The introduction of synths in the last part of book three left me very interested in the next installment. Unfortunately it's been a disappointment overall. As usual, the most interesting sections are with Rizer, which are sparse. There's no investment in any other POV except maybe the Director. That was my only real complaint with the last book, the pilot woman POV felt like filler content. Too much was introduced too fast to expand the genre and lore. Mind dives only really came up about half way through the last book. Nothing had ever been mentioned about the defense chips to protect against mind dives. There was a hard shift away from a young man looking for a new start in the marines to synths and everyone else's story. Space brain sex demons are where I lost interest, and I'm into that sort of thing.

Excellence Continued!

I cannot say after listening to this fourth book in the series that it's getting better, because for me, it's been a five-star book and narration all through the first three, and this one continues that standard. After the third installment, I wasn't sure where they would go, and I was not disappointed. Well done!
