Not bad for a first novel!
The overall story has potential and the message behind the novel is powerful. I struggled to get through listening to some parts due to the narrator's somewhat monotone delivery and the writing style in a few sections. Given this is the author's first novel, I would say it just needs some tweaks and fleshing out to become a great book!
