Jerome K. Jerome
Many of their humorous adventures and mishaps relate to the nuances in language and customs; one attempts to board a train unconventionally to avoid German procedures; when riding the Bummel in Dresden one butts and rolls into German passengers who, being familiar with the route know how to brace themselves and don't see the humor, "the dull lot"; another tries to buy his aunt a cushion and gets angry after he pays for it because he gets only a kiss from a young girl instead. Three Men on the Bummel is one of the most popular classics in English comic fiction.

Anything written by Jerome K. Jerome should be required reading. His stories should be a movie, an animation, a play, a stop-motion picture.. basically what I am saying is that everyone should be exposed to this humorous writer. I wish I had someone like him to chronicle my adventures while traveling. I had a friend suggest the first book 'Three men in a boat, to say nothing of the dog' That friend rose in even higher esteem after I listened to it. I generally don't laugh out loud while listening to or reading stories, but both this story and that one have. While I was at work no less. :D I suggest purchasing not only this story but 'Three men in a boat, to say nothing of the dog' as well, and start with that one as it is the first. Why do the Brits promote Shakespeare so much, when they had Jerome K. Jerome?Great remedy for a gloomy or bad day!
