as good as an audiobook about this topic gets

worth it if you dont have time to read an actual book or watch a lecture. if you do have the time, check out Stanford's free courses (first one is called DB1).

It fills a need for sure.

You want to learn about databases? You know some things, but you've really never done it before or you've tried it a bit and you just want more context for wrapping your brain about database concepts? get the book it's $2. Totally worth the $2 and 50 minutes to try. There's very little content in this regard so scoop this up and dump it in the think tank.

Awful | Bare Minimum to be Considered a Book

Would you try another book from Ryan Jarvis and/or Ryan Jarvis?

No, i'd rather not.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I like the Great Courses books and fiction every once in a while.

How could the performance have been better?

The content made it hard to redeem.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Think Database?

I think the book really suffers from lack of useful content. Cutting scenes might help to let the reader see that sooner.

quite enjoyable kickstart to studying databases

Would you consider the audio edition of Think Database to be better than the print version?

i really enjoyed listening to this audiobook... audio over print materials are definitively more convenient in my opinion.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Which scene was your favorite?

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

databases technology is not out-of-reach for the average educated person. databases are all around us, and as the information-age progresses it will be more and more useful to be familiar with databases fundamentals even if you're field seems unrelated to computer science...

Any additional comments?

this book is tailored to be listened to on audio-format. it is organized and narrated in a way easy to follow while you're doing exercise or commuting. i loved the plain-english type of explanation because im not a computer science person. i found the examples used to clarify the concepts very close to my day-to-day living and thefore easier to remember. finally, i appreciate the useful tips and general knowledge the author provides on topics beyond databases, like industry trends and personal productivity...
