Resumen del Editor

The World Encyclopedia of Serial Killers is the most comprehensive set of its kind in the history of true crime publishing. Written and compiled by Susan Hall, the four-volume set has more than 1600 entries of male and female serial killers from around the world.

Defined by the FBI as a person who murders three or more people over a period of time with a hiatus of weeks or months between murders, serial killers have walked among us from the dawn of time as these books will demonstrate. While the entries to these volumes will continue to grow—the FBI estimates that there are at least fifty serial killers operating in the United States at any given time—The World Encyclopedia of Serial Killers is as complete as possible through the end of 2017.

The series continues with Volume Three M-S. The entries include the Machete Murderer Juan Vallejo Corona, Maranhao Boy Mutilator Francisco das Chagas, Night Stalker Richard Ramirez, Rostov Ripper Andrei Romanovych Chikatilo, and serial killer Arthur John Shawcross. You will find these killers and approximately 475 others in this third book in the series of The World Encyclopedia of Serial Killers.

Third installment of society's worst

In Hall's third volume in this series, the author features many of the highest profile serial killers, including - 'The Son of Sam" David Berkowitz, cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer, and the arrogant Richard Ramirez ("The Night Stalker"). The moniker of "the meanest man in America" falls on Donald Henry Gaskins, who was responsible for ending the lives of fifteen individuals in the 1970's. However, as Hall demonstrates, the designation of the "meanest man" could go to the heartless Carl Panzram, a monster suspected to have killed over one hundred people in his short miserable existence. Another candidate for the "meanest man" title is the sadist David Parker Ray, who sexually tortured victims in his soundproofed semi-trailer dubbed his "toy box." The author also profiles the likes of the Railroad killer, the roadside strangler, and Joel Rifkin, who received a mention on an episode of "Seinfeld." Larry and Danny Raines are serial killer brothers in Michigan, also noted in this volume, along with Thomas Silverstein, who spent a mind boggling thirty six years in solitary confinement.
