Resumen del Editor

All women have been subjected to the pervasive idea that we have to look a certain way; have young, beautiful skin; show no blemishes; and be thin and attractive. And if we don't fit into this stereotype of what society thinks is beautiful, then we are shunned, teased, degraded, or even ostracized. It has been proven that people who are considered more attractive get better jobs, have more friends, and are treated better in society as a whole. Is it no wonder, then, with all these messages coming at us from all directions, that body image is a problem for all women? After all, we all want the best in life, no matter our weight or what we look like, so we do our best to measure up.

But there is a better way. You can learn to love yourself and accept who you are. That's what this book is all about. Listen, and you will learn how to improve your body image and discover that there is a lot to love inside your skin. Trust that you are beautiful without all the products. This book will show you how.

It was okay.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes and no. She states that we should tell ourselves that we are beautiful the way we are, etc, but I don't feel like she focuses on *change* to love ourselves more.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Focused more on changing our bodies so that we DO love ourselves more. I feel like there are too many obese women in this world that love themselves a bit too much, kind of like the show "fat and fabulous". I'm an overweight person but really I don't want to see fat women let it all hang out. It's one thing to love yourself, quite another to not care what the world thinks and flaunt your body like you're a super model.

What about Rebecca Roberts’s performance did you like?

Her voice was pleasant to listen to. Not sure I would have made it through it otherwise.

Was The Wisdom of a Big Girl worth the listening time?

Yes and no. It had some good points.

Any additional comments?

This Has A Great Message, Recommended

"The Wisdom of a Big Girl" was an excellent listen. This audiobook has a great message as well as wonderful advice for any girl or woman whose ever had not just a weight problem but body image issues. As women we are constantly barraged by what we should look like or be like and these images are not who we are. I think this is a great book and I'd definitely recommend it.

I know several women who would love this audiobook as I did. These are real things that we face from an early age on and the author, Joanna Arielle Haimowitz addresses them and offers safe and sound avenues to steer us away from that mindset.

Rebecca Roberts did a great job narrating this book. She was positive and upbeat which is what this is all about. She also has perfect voice inflections. This was a good example of what I love to hear; author/reader on the same page. Awesome!
