The intention of this book is to “be there” for men. My hope is to remind listeners what being whole looks like, and help them recognize the distortions that stop us from feeling totally awesome all the time.
In a world full of memes on social media and TV soundbites, we get bombarded with a ton of ideas that stick in our minds for about five seconds or so. Sometimes we have “aha” moments, but the breakthroughs are hard to remember and challenging to apply their lessons.
The Whole Dude is not an hour-long program, but rather a framework to evaluate thoughts and lessons that can stick with the listener. It's a lifetime of learning put into bite-size chunks that are relevant, intriguing, challenging, and memorable.
My goal for this book is to:
- Discuss very foundational concepts that are at the root of all of us
- To present a model that acts as a quick reference
To achieve these goals, I’ve created a relatable framework so you can recognize what being whole is. There are four sections to this and I created an avatar for each section, and I call them Wake Riders. They illustrate the ideal ways that we can show up and react to any given situation. We can show up as the Son, Warrior, Lover, or Father.
The essence of each Wake Rider is:
- The Son is about the qualities of something brand-new and fresh
- The Warrior is about that drive we have to achieve what we want
- The Lover is about enjoying and appreciating the richness of life
- The Father is about being able to see past our current situation and finding peace
