Resumen del Editor

Lei, a teen struggling through life’s trial, has come to his wits' end. His land is in a famine, the girl he loves has no idea how he feels about her, and his mother lies on her deathbed. On top of it all, a paralyzing anxiety prevents him from doing anything about his problems.

When rumors of a mythical dragon wreaking havoc along southern China reaches his village, Lei and several others journey to validate the threat. Led by a foreigner, the group travels farther than any of them could have ever imagined, seeing things they had only heard in fables, and facing threats that none of them were ready for.

For Lei to overcome everything in his way, he must grow to become what he was meant to be. Lei must learn the way of dragons.

Quotes:
“Maybe I have to believe in something more than just what I see if I need a miracle.”

“Let me tell you something; when you’re desperate, truly desperate, nothing will stop you. Not even the lack of faith or confidence you have in yourself. You will find a way to persevere, even against your own mind and body that wants to quit.”

“A kind act isn’t kind if it makes the one who did it suffer. It’s harmful and dangerous.”

Message from the author:
As an indie author, your purchases and reviews truly matter! I take time to read each one and they often both encourage my future stories as well as motivate future readers. I do keep all my books readable for mature teens and up, although I do reach the moral gray zone.

I listened and highly recommend this book

It’s an amazing story. The author combines Chinese culture, fairytale, Dao philosophy and psychology to describe the young boy Lei’s journey to find himself while fighting the Xie'e and dragons. Through the narrator Felix Wang’s theatrical reading of the book, the audience went through a roller coaster journey to find the mythical Chinese herbal medicine and dragons. The most impressive attraction is through Felix’s dynamic and energetic young voice, it feels like I’m part of the story seeking the courage and wisdom, fighting the dragons, and most importantly seeking and understanding the inner self of the characters and how he grows stronger as the story unfolds. The story happens on the famous Chinese Kunlun mountain, a mountain range believed to be full of myths and mysteries in Xinjiang, China. The author uses rich Chinese culture such as Yin and Yang and Chinese Dao philosophy. He exhibits it naturally in the story so that it’s easy to understand. I usually listen to the story while I’m running. Felix’s reading is so vivid and graphic that I feel I’m so energetic jumping up and down with the stories and wanted to keep listening the rest of the story. I highly recommend this book.
