Good story, wishing for a new narrator.

The narrator leaves much to be desired. He pronounces a lot of words incorrectly and it's distracting.

Can someone teach Anthony how to pronounce Minerva and the proper pronunciation of Sidhe????? Please!!!

pronunciation of the names by the narrator drove me crazy! I even looked up the phonetic pronunciation to make sure i hadnt been mis calling the gods and goddesses by name all these years. lol

Fairytales of a different kind

So I didn’t realize this was book 6 of series I had never heard of. I knew I had not listened/read any books by this author. All in all not a bad love story. I don’t feel like I was lost by reading the 6th of book of 13 book series. The author covered enough details and the book stood on its own love story that I wasn’t confused or feeling I was missing too many pieces of this intricate world the author has built. I like the story line and plot Walden created and probably arcs the same way for each set of Kings and them finding their queens. It made me think of Christine Feehan and her Carpathian’s finding their mates. It did have a bit of rush to it, some predictable moments, with a flare of raw romance, and a few tense scenes. I am contemplating reading the first 5 and the last 7 books of this series. I don’t feel overly stressed or excited, but they do seem to have an appeal. This love story is between Cal and Minerva finding each other, trusting each other, and in the end accepting one another as mates and true queen and king of balance for their kingdom. I notice that the author brings in the other kings and if lucky to have found their queens at times so we get a bit of details of their happy ever after and how they are which I liked as a special touch from Walden and the world she has created. The narrator wasn’t as terrible as the previous reviewers. I think he did a fine job with the voice changes and portraying the story.

The books are well written, however the narrator does such a terrible job the listening experience is almost painful.

To tell you the truth I didn’t see one thing that was dangerous, cruel, mean, evil, whatever, about Caliban. And the only thing that Minerva hurt was Caliban. They were both as nice as they could be, so I don’t see where he was the opposite of his brother, The Seelie King. I mean, it was a good story but nothing like it was made out to be.

AND like The Seelie King, it was NOT a romance. They had a looog drawn-out sex scene, just like the Seelie King book, but there was not even a smidgen of romance. Not a kiss, without sex, not a kind word, no I Love You, I Like You, nothing. They are the most unromantic stories I’ve ever read.

It was rather exciting because someone was trying to kill Minerva and her twin Selene, because of the type of Fae they are. And it was great some of the magical things that Caliban did.

So, let me just say this: I hate the name Minerva, don’t know why I just do. However, I’ve always heard it pronounced Mi-ner-va in every book I’ve listened to where the heroine’s name was that. In this book it was even worse. He pronounced it Mener-va. (Just a little complaint on my part.)

Drawn-out sex and the F-bomb was used 5 times.

As to the narration: Unfortunately, Antony Ferguson can’t do a woman’s voice, even a little bit, and he’s emotionless in his reading.
