Resumen del Editor

Jeff Yeager, the man dubbed The Ultimate Cheapskate by Matt Lauer on Today, offers a completely fresh take on personal finance, teaching us how to enjoy life more by spending less. He will show you how to buy less stuff, retire young, and live financially free, while you make a positive difference in people's lives and save the planet along the way. The Ultimate Cheapskate's Road Map to True Riches lays out the practices and principles that have made cheap the new cool.

  • Live within your means at 30 and stay there. The Ultimate Cheapskate was living well on what he earned at 30, so when he made more money, he saved every penny. Now he is "selfishly" employed, doing work he loves and helping others.
  • Do for yourself what you could have others do for you. Cheapskates are die-hard do-it-yourselfers. It's all about having the right tools, and The Ultimate Cheapskate will get you started.
  • Pinch the dollars and the pennies will pinch themselves. It's not the $3 cup of coffee; it's the big-ticket decisions that determine whether you'll be financially free. So buy a house, not a castle.

The Ultimate Cheapskate's Road Map to True Riches promises a quality of life you cannot buy, a sense of satisfaction you cannot fake, and an appreciation for others and for the planet that gives life value. Open your road map and prepare to discover the true joys of financial freedom.

Creepy sexual innuendo mixed with financial advice

Would have been 4 or 5 stars if it weren't for the creepy old man sexual innuendo and poor jokes.

Don't listen with children around. Otherwise it's a decent book with food for thought. The book could have been more polished and focused on the topic.

Financial health as a LIFESTYLE (not a diet)...

Why are so many people obsessed with money, big houses, and fancy cars? I never understood it, despite having lived in both a run down shack and a cookie cutter golf course community "cavern" (to quote my mom). I was happier in the shack. Less stress, nicer neighbors (bonus: your neighbors are real).

Mr. Yeager gets it right. We are so focused on what other people think about us, that we spend our entire lives (and our money) trying to impress others, and live up to THEIR standards - be it by having the biggest house, the fanciest car, etc. etc. etc. I like his idea of instead taking a piece of modest property (it doesn't have to be a shack), and making it an expression of your own unique identity. Yeah, no one will want to buy it, this is possible... however, the idea is not to sell it, but keep it!

Also, love his idea about money-fasting for a week. It sounds challenging, but fun, as it can force you to be creative on what to make for dinner (and clean out the freezer in the process).

Best thing of all? Practicing this lifestyle helps you stay away from the depression that goes with being in debt, and towards the FREEDOM of having a positive bank account! :)

Great read, also quite funny. My favorite guy from that entire TV show.

One last thing - my family has been using dryer lint as fire starter for years. It is magical stuff!

Yes, with caveats

First few Chapters had more depth. Eliminating the "Money Step", learning to get by with less, the addiction of money, are all good topics and make this audio book worth the credit. The rest was less detailed steps and more personal talking, sometimes to the point of stopping to listen. I didn't care to hear for extended periods of time about his house mortage, which could have been more detailed how to, instead of filler. The bad language and continued sexual inuendos have no place in a self help book, and shows yeg is still in the 'good ole boys mentality of the 80s' and needs to look in the mirror. Time to present info in a family mannor as you would want people to speak at your own dinner table. The reveal of his own finances at the end made up for the loss of credibility of his flaws. If you are into self dev as I am, this is one in a series and if you can learn to curb your spending addictions just a bit, its more than covers the downsides of this document.

Excellent Tale of a Person who Loves dryer lint

I have been a follower of Dave Ramsey and other personal finance authors for quite a while and this book is a winner. Even if you don't take any of the advice that is dolled out and I am sure you will take at least some, it is still a very entertaining ride to listen to the comic cheapskate stylings of Jeff Yeager. As I write this I discovered today that he has another book out today and I can't wait until it hits Audible. Funniest book that I have read/listened to in quite a while.

Thanks Jeff

Not for Christians

Hey Christians need to be conservative with their money just as much if not more than anyone else. Well stick with Dave Ramsey because this guy is a Potty Mouth. I didn't get but probably 5 mins into the book and had to shut Yeager down. I couldnt listen to his trashy mouth.
I pray God saves this man.

Not worth my Audible credit for the month.

Would you try another book from Jeff Yeager and/or Jeff Yeager?

No. And I'm pretty disappointed about that. I saw Mr. Yeager on a few TV shows and he seemed pretty cool.

Has The Ultimate Cheapskate's Road Map to True Riches turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

Sex came up quite a bit in this book. Which I didn't appreciate very much in a book about money. I realize that this book is supposed to be light and funny but I was under the impression it would have more tips about saving money. I didn't take away any good info from this book. Pretty disappointed.

not particularly good.

the author is often vulgar and obsessed with sexual references and innuendo. he also blasphemes several times. some of the issues are useful, but for a locavore, done is not realistic.
