Resumen del Editor

Following on the heels of Mr. Darcy's Daughters and The Exploits & Adventures of Miss Alethea Darcy, Elizabeth Aston delivers an irresistible new novel set in the world of Jane Austen.

After being disowned by her family, Cassandra Darcy - the artistic eldest daughter of Anne de Bourgh (and granddaughter of the infamous Lady Catherine de Bourgh and Mr. Darcy's cousin in Pride and Prejudice) - strives to make a living by painting. But struggling to succeed in bohemian London turns out to be the least of her worries! To begin with, there are the unwelcome advances of a certain Lord Usborne, and then there are the letters bequeathed to her by a friend - highly compromising letters written by Princess Caroline that her husband, the Prince Regent, would very much like to possess.

In league with Lord Usborne, the prince enlists the services of Cassandra's cousin, Horatio Darcy, who is a lawyer, to track down the missives. When Horatio's investigation leads him straight to Cassandra, he initially disapproves of her lifestyle until he finds himself utterly charmed by it - and particularly by her. Romance may prove elusive, however, as social obstacles and the efforts of a vengeful Lord Usborne conspire to divide the two would-be lovers.

Another delightful chapter in the adventures of Aston's spirited Darcy daughters, The True Darcy Spirit is a treat for Jane Austen fans everywhere.

I loved this book!

This narrator did a wonderful job and I love this series. Well done! Highly recommend for a good clean story.

Pleasant Fanfic

Lots of effort at squeezing as many names and places from the Austen source material. But a pleasant Fanfic listen.

All around wonderful

Elizabeth Aston is by far my favorite spin off writer. Every novel in this series has a unique charm that interests and intrigues. I could go on and on about why I love this series which I do with my reviews of every one of the novels. To each their own opinion but I for one ADORE the readers voice and her portrayal of characters. Everyone is not shrill like some other spin offs from different authors that are read

Retained my interest...

I did like the story and the characters, but it could have been fleshed out a bit more, especially the romances. Yes, all is contrived to make sure there is a happy ending, but that is expected in these books. My only real gripe is how the narrator spoke for the heroine and a couple of other women - too . They sounded like pathetic little girls.

Love love love it

These Darcy novels are really great. My biggest problem is keeping all the characters straight. Otherwise i love them.

Ruined by narrator

This excellent author has written a very enjoyable series based on characters from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, but the horrible narration ruins the first three in the series.
This narrator uses unbearable high-pitched "baby" voices for almost all of the characters, male and female, including the heroine. Obnoxious and ridiculous.
A different, very good narrator, was hired to do the final three.
Read the first three in print. The first one, Mr. Darcy's Daughters, is especially good.

Omg

Why is this so boring? Seriously counted her going to the post office 4 or 5 times before I finally turned it off at 44%...

Shrill, whiny young female voices

I like Elizabeth Aston, but this performance by Morag Sims is a such disaster that I could not finish it. Her voicing of the young female parts, of which of course there are many in a Jane Austen take-off, is annoying in the extreme. I really cannot recommend it.

To much of a modern political vibe

I have enjoyed several of Elizabeth Astons books about the Darcy family and Pride and Prejudice world but this one I really did not enjoy.

I started to read the series out of order and many of them harken to Jane Austin style writing or to Georgette Heyer, one of my favorite authors. This sadly fell quite flat.

There was a very heavy focus on the injustice of the time towards females and how they are constantly taken advantaged of. That male sex were painted as simple patriarchal baboons who are privileged, exploit women, and any man who isn’t such is controlled and kept in their place by a strong minded wife. Also the love interest story line started to remind me of cheap erotic novels. Sadly disappointing compared to her other books such as The Second Mrs. Darcy.
