Resumen del Editor

In July 2010, Wikileaks published Cablegate, one of the biggest leaks in the history of the US military, including evidence for war crimes and torture. In the aftermath, Julian Assange, the founder and spokesman of Wikileaks, found himself at the center of a media storm, accused of hacking and later sexual assault. He spent the next seven years in asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, fearful that he would be extradited to Sweden to face the accusations of assault and then sent to US.

At this point, Nils Melzer, UN special rapporteur on torture, started his investigation into how the US and UK governments were working together to ensure a conviction. His findings are explosive, revealing that Assange has faced grave and systematic due process violations, judicial bias, collusion and manipulated evidence. Melzer also gathered together consolidated medical evidence that proves that Assange has suffered prolonged psychological torture.

Melzer's compelling investigation puts the UK and US state into the dock, showing how, through secrecy, impunity and, crucially, public indifference, unchecked power reveals a deeply undemocratic system. Furthermore, the Assange case sets a dangerous precedent: once telling the truth becomes a crime, censorship and tyranny will inevitably follow.

Behind the scenes

This poor guy gave up his life to expose the lies and corruption. We need to get him free. What the courts did to him is unbelievable. Very good book well written. Everyone should read.

Highly Detailed

This book presents a plethora of information which examines deep specific details of all aspects of the cases (both alleged rape and espionage) against Julian Assange, and spells out the long, complex actions by various governments in pursuit of Assange, their efforts (and successes) at discrediting him, and highlights systematic abuse in western prisons and judicial systems. If you think you understood the cases against Juliam Assange before, you will be shocked at what you have not been told.

#FreeAssange

“Truth always lies somewhere between the obvious and the absurd”
~Unknown

With the obvious and popular narrative pushed by the prosecution to the “absurd” narrative that Julian Assange is innocent, this book does a great job in allowing an unbiased discussion from both sides. Nils Melzar did an excellent job. This book is a must read by all freedom loving people of the world, but especially Americans!

A Must Read For Global Citizens Who Value Human Rights and Journalistic Freedom.

I have followed the JA persecution for more than a decade, However, this book revealed details of cruelty by Western governments that expose pure barbarism in the hearts of our ruling elites.

Urgent Recommended Reading

A real life, currently unfolding, David versus Goliath story. A book with a message for the good everyday common folk living in the „free liberal democracies“ around the world about the clear and present danger posed to our desire to maintain and expand our freedoms, liberty and the rule of law as described by the kind of people that wrote and those whom have fought to institute the principles found in the Magna Carta Libertatum and the United States Constitution. A currently unfolding tragic story of human frailty, frail weak cowardly individuals who are unwillingness to accept responsibility and have an intolerable lack of integrity to do the right thing according to the letter and spirit of the law when faced with the truth about one’s own crimes. A story of how warped and sick those that have their hands on the levers of power are, including all those involved in relationship to the former individuals; directly and indirectly. A clear canary warning call in the coal mine of advanced civil society and culture for decades to come. It’s time to wake up and push back like crazy on the mistreatment of an extraordinarily brave journalist who had the balls to do incredible reporting on our behalf. We must push back like our lives and futures depend on it. Please Read and share this story and get involved with the efforts to Free Julian Assange. Julian urgently needs a massive public intervention now.

An absolute must-read! We Are All Assange!

Great book. Thank you Niles Melzer. Courageous subject, and writer. One criticism of Melzer’s prescription though: it will take revolution, not reform, to save Assange and restore basic democratic rights.
