Resumen del Editor

Louis L'Amour is now one of the most iconic Western writers of all time, but once upon a time he was Jim Mayo, a regular writer for the pulps. Some of the tales he wrote in those days stuck with him enough that he later revised and expanded them into novels. But there was a special magic to the originals, and after research and restoration, these stories appear here now in their original form.

In "The Trail to Peach Meadow Canon", Mike Bastian, taken in by the legendary outlaw Ben Curry as an orphaned child and raised to one day take over his empire of crime, finds that day has come. As he prepares for his first criminal job, a gold-train robbery, Mike must decide whether to follow the path laid out before him or to carve out a destiny of his own.

In the title story, Charles Rodney, shanghaied and forced into labor on a merchant vessel, eventually dies from repeated beatings - but not before deeding part of his ranch to Rafe Caradec, whom he hopes will protect his family.

Trail to Crazy Man delivers!

I loved this performance of America's most classic western writer, Louis L'Amour'. The story was great and readers performed extremely well. Love it!

Smart and intriguing antagonist

Enjoyed the logic and shrewdness of the hero. I don't jnow why but the characters always trip over romance. Great yarn entirely.

COWBOY TALES

Louis L’Amour has been gone for many years but this book of two tales, “The Trail to Crazy Man”, is a good introduction to an entertaining storyteller. Christopher Lane’s narration and twists of the second story make it the better of the two, but L’Amour’s skill pleases reader/listeners in both. Recalling L’Amour’s Sackett family saga (seventeen stories) makes a reader/listener appreciate cowboy tales where honest, upright heroes always win.

L’Amour’s stories are of an idealized American west where good always overcomes evil. Though his heroes are preternaturally perfect, L’Amour satisfies a human desire for wholesomeness. L’Amour writes with clarity and concreteness. His stories are simple allegorical tales about good and evil. They are wonderfully entertaining and leave one happy with the thought that good always overcomes evil.

Fun escapism with some extras!

The stories might appear to be standard westerns, but LL manages to stuff in some good psychological insight and deft description of the landscape too. Another surprising point, his female characters have a lot of characters, and he highlights historical detail such as women being allowed to sit on juries out west at this early time. He also clearly has a lot of sympathy with the native Americans and even brings up the hideous practice of western settlers abducting indigenous women and how appalling that is. Kind of amazing
