At various points in Israel's history, God dwelt in specific, significant places, most notably in the tabernacle and the temple. These structures, meticulously planned, extravagantly furnished, and regularly frequented by the devout, were more than just places of worship and sacrifice. They were pictures of God's relationship with his chosen people and of the atoning work that would be done by the Messiah. To understand the tabernacle and the temple, then, is to understand how we are brought into God's family through the sacrifice of his only son, Jesus.
This theologically rich resource brings together the latest scholarship and archeological discoveries to bring God's dwelling places alive for modern believers. It places these important structures in their historical and theological contexts, connects them with the overall biblical story, and shows how they bring meaning and depth to the faith of Christians today.

The book of Ezekiel contains some of the most incredible prophecies in the Bible, including detailed description of a nuclear war and the cleanup afterward. Ezekiel ministered to a nation experiencing judgment for its sins, and may have some lessons for us today. Ezekiel's name means "God strengthens, or God will strengthen". Ezekiel is one of the three that were called Captivity Prophets (the other two are Jeremiah and Daniel). Ezekiel never mentions Jeremiah in his writings, but he does mention Daniel three times.

Some interesting insights
Very academic and a dry account, but some interesting insights. Lots of references, so the book may not appeal to everyone. The last chapter brings everything together.

Good discussion of the parallels of the temple and tabernacle
Overall a good overview and discussion about the tabernacle and later temples in Israel. it's clear that the author is both a good scholar and of deeply held religious beliefs as his presentation leans conservative but he does present the arguments well. Personally, I'd prefer a discussion involving higher criticism as well of just the mainline conservative view but I found his points to be congruent with my knowledge of biblical academia.
