A welcome change

I have listened to over 50 books this year and many are serious and sometimes incredibly sad. I have tried to read a book about WWII from the perspective of different countries. This story shares the story of the kinder transport and while its not the camps or the ghettos, it shares the courage of parents who gave their children to care of strangers. Yet, there is some love and hope. I really enjoyed the narration and how much I came to care for the characters. It’s a lovely listen.

Amazing Story

This book is an amazing, well written book that hits all the feels. I listened to the audible version. It held my attention and made me want to keep listening all day, so I did!
Born, raised and living in America I feel like it is hard for us to get a real grasp as to the horror that was WWII. Historical fictions like this help me to see and feel what it was like from so many different countries, people and cultures.

Very interesting read!

Knowing very little about the Kinder Transport I was totally moved by the bravery of this mother. The writing is captivating and the audible narration superb!

Wonderful story

Couldn’t pull myself away from the narrative carried audible from room to room with me as the book was impossible to turn off.

Nice book

I really like reading historical fiction about WW2. So much happened in many more countries other than Germany, Great Britain, Russia, Poland and France. I liked the story line as it took place in Ireland and the narrator was very good. It was a good story but not great although it kept me listening. Had the spy figured out from the get go. Not sorry I used my credit on it. Not sure I want to get the 2nd one though.

Loved this book!

I loved this book, couldn’t stop listening! I’m anxious to begin the second book to see what happens to all these wonderful characters. This was the first book I’ve listened to by Jean Grainger & look forward to getting all her other books.

Wonderful story well narrated

The story captivated me. The characters were multifaceted. It was a good read (I mean listen). The narrator did a great job - love Siobhan’s lilting voice. I’m downloading the next book in the series.

I couldn’t stop listening to find out what would happen next. Such a great story about a terrible time in history and the compassion of caring people to help others.
