Acerca de esta escucha

France, 1944. The streets are filled with swastikas. This is the story of a brave English girl behind enemy lines, a German soldier, and a terrible sacrifice.

When young English nurse Sibyl Lake is recruited as a spy to support the French resistance, she doesn’t realize the ultimate price she will end up paying. She arrives in Colmar, a French town surrounded by vineyards and swarming with German soldiers, but her fear is dampened by the joy of being reunited with her childhood sweetheart Jacques.

Sibyl’s arrival has not gone unnoticed by Commander Wolfgang von Haagan, and she realizes that letting him get closer is her best chance of learning enemy secrets. Yet despite her best intentions, Sibyl soon finds that betrayal does not come easy to her.

When Jacques finds that Sibyl is involved with the enemy, he is determined to prove himself to her with one last act of heroism - an act that will put all of their lives in terrible danger.

A beautifully written, heart-wrenching, and unforgettable tale of love and loss in a time of war, The Soldier’s Girl is perfect for fans of The Letter by Kathryn Hughes and The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah.

Excellent read!

I love books based on WWII and I thought the author did an excellent job providing the war from a different perspective. The narrator was excellent.

Superb listening!

Great story and a lovely narrator. While it was fiction I could see it actually happening. The only annoying thing was Sybil’s overthinking EVERYTHING!
OTHERWISE A CHARMING STIRY

Captivating

Captivating story. My husband and I listened to it together and both thoroughly enjoyed it. We often looked up different historical places and events that were mentioned in the book.
He is a lifelong student & lover of history and was therefore knowledgeable of different events that occurred during WWII and were mentioned it the story. This led lto discussions between us…perhaps you would benefit from listening to it with a friend or family member!!!

Review of Soldiers Girl

Very action driven beginning . Then the story ebbed and flowed. I would have liked to have seen an epilogue. Seemed like the story towards the end became riveting and then ended a bit abruptly

very interesting

I did not receive a good history education in high school, and novels like this drive me to do some research and learn about things I should have learned then, but in a more entertaining way! I enjoyed this book, and the reader did a great job.

Absolutely loved it!

I am a huge WWII history buff and absolutely loved this book. It was full of vivid detail and the characters came to life as I listened. The narrator did an excellent job as well. I was stunned at the turn the book took and was so captivated. Brava Sharon Maas and Henrietta Meire!

Best book I have read

I adore historical world war 2 stories. This was a page turner and I could hardly put it down. I just love how the author can make you feel so much love for the characters. It’s so powerful I am still morning the loss of one of the characters. I also like the powerful woman role model in this story. Worth every moment. I really LOVED this story.
