There's been some confusion—not to say, um, energetic debate, readers and fans being readers and fans—about the correct pronunciation of "Manticoran." The truth, alas, is that a stitch was dropped. An error occurred. A mistake was made… and it wasn't Audible's fault. It was mine. Before Audible recorded the very first Honor Harrington book, narrator Allyson Johnson and I not only corresponded by e-mail but actually spoke to one another by phone. She wanted to make absolutely certain she had the correct pronunciations for names, places, star nations, etc., and I tried to make certain all of her questions were answered. And so they were. Unfortunately, at some point in the process, I replied to one of her e-mails by telling her that "Man-ti-core-ahn" was pronounced "Man-tik-er-ahn." Exactly how this happened is more than I can say at this point, except to blushingly disclose that the original e-mail remains intact, confirming to all the world that it was, indeed, my fault. I can ascribe it only to a temporary mental hiccup on my part and crave your forgiveness. If, however, you must blame someone for the mix-up, that someone should be me and not Audible, who have done everything they could to get it right.

A Short Victorious War

This is the third book in this series, and is building more about the leading character Honor Harrington. At times the story slows down with explaining details about the society or Naval ships but I guess when you are creating it all from your imagination you need to give people some understanding to build on. If you like stories with strong women roles this is a book for you.

Great book

Full of action and romance. I highly recommend this series. Each book gets better and better.

Drastic tempo change

While the 3rd installment is just as good as the previous two, I can't help but feel like I've missed something. Although, knowing how Mr. Weber compiled the past titles, I imagine I will find out on book number four. Curious....

Love these books

I love all these books. I only wish that David would continue the series. A lot of unanswered questions!

I very much enjoyed both the story and the narrato

My biggest problem with the story is that David Weber tends to get bogged down with strategy and tactics and politics. I admit that some discussion is needed to set the scene for the story to come, but Weber devotes huge chunks of the story to it which makes the story drag on and on. It was difficult to for me to get through these passages while I anticipated the story to come.

I enjoyed the narrator very much. While she was no Mel Blanc, she did a fine job with keeping the characters voices separate and distinguished from one another.

I will be buying more audio books in this series.

Marvelous story outweighs weak narration

It's taken me some time to adjust to this narrator but I've grown accustomed enough to her that I don't mind quite as much... and the terrific continuation of Honor Harrington's adventure is worth it.

I am rereading all the Honor Harrington books. They are great the second or fifth time !! Thank you!!

Good sci-fi military story

I liked the good character development and pacing of the story. Even non essential characters got good background and development.
The story could be from any military conflict, but the space element makes it different from other navy battles.
A really good story for the Honor-verse.
