Acerca de esta escucha

Wesley Gates is down on his luck. He's drowning in debt. His demanding career isn't letting up. And, to top it all off, after years of ignoring their failing marriage, his wife has had enough.

Heartbroken and in desperate need of a place to stay while he gives his wife the space she's asked for, Wes is shocked when he runs into a familiar face from his past. As they catch up, Wes can't help feeling grateful to spend time with someone who remembers who he was during their glory days, long before his life fell apart. So, when Elias offers to rent out his spare bedroom, it seems like the answer to all Wes' problems. Wes takes his old friend up on the offer without hesitation.

But soon, Wes realizes moving in with Elias may have been a mistake. Between the wild mood swings, strange occurrences, and total disregard for his new roommate's privacy, Wes begins to wonder if Elias will be his savior or his worst nightmare.

When his wife reveals devastating news that destroys the final bit of shaky ground Wes was standing on, his new roommate may be all he has left.

Maybe that's what Elias wanted in the first place.... Or maybe it's all in Wes' head.

Contains mature themes.

Con calificación alta para:

The Audiobook "the Roommate" By Kiersten Modglin Is A Psychological Thriller That Follows A Man Who Invites A Stranger To Be His Roommate, Leading To A Dark And Twisted Storyline. Many Reviewers Praised The Intriguing Plot Twists, Fast-paced Narrative, And Suspenseful Storyline That Keeps The Listener Engaged. The Unexpected Ending Was Also A Highlight For Some. However, Others Found Certain Plot Developments Predictable And Felt That The Characters Lacked Depth. The Pacing Was Slow Initially For Some, And The Narration Was Criticized As Monotonous By A Few. Fantastic!

Another twisty, twisted delight of a thriller from Kiersten Modglin!

It was refreshing to see the nightmare roommate scenario with men instead of women.

Great character development. Elias was so well written. She nailed that type of guy perfectly.

The narrator was ok, he grew on me. He has a nice voice that was pleasant enough to listen to. It was more of a read than a performance. He didn’t differentiate between the two main male characters which was a bit confusing at times.

Worth a credit!

The author has serious issues!!!!

Arguing & wanting a divorce bc her husband worked too much & couldn't make soccer games & be on time for dinner every night as well as be available for whatever is important to HER. All the while their kid goes to a private school & they own a million dollar home that he's slaving to maintain. Instead of her getting a second job or progressing in her career to make more money, she throws everything on her husband's shoulders while she's a martyr who's slogging through her 'horrible' life. The wife has made what her husband does or doesn’t do the center of her life & is so angry it's influenced their teen daughter - parental alienation. Did a lot of fast forwarding through nonsense arguments. I flipped out when mom allowed their 14 year old daughter to let a guy she met on an app pick her up from school without having first met him. WHAT?!

Fredia McFadden vibes i enjoyed it

I decided to give The Roommate by Kiersten Modglin a shot after seeing her name pop up in random book groups. Since this one was free on Audible, I figured, why not? And honestly, I was pleasantly surprised! It was an enjoyable listen—easy to follow and perfect for multitasking. You can have it on while doing other things and still keep up with the story, which is a huge plus.

Synopsis: The story follows a man who invites a stranger to live with him as his roommate, but things quickly take a dark turn. Packed with secrets, manipulation, and suspense, it keeps you guessing as the twists unfold.

The vibe reminded me a lot of Freida McFadden’s books, so if you like her style, this might be right up your alley. I listened to it at 1.5x speed (because who has time to listen slow anymore?), and it flowed really well. It’s not a “wow, 5-star” kind of book, but definitely a solid 4 stars. Fun, entertaining, and worth the listen.

A Good Read

This was descent. I felt pretty angry at the wife though. She didn't appreciate that her husband was trying really hard to correct his mistakes and stop the divorce. Otherwise, it was a good book and I enjoyed it.

Okay

I liked it overall but didn’t really like the narrator. Sounded more robotic. Unlike others I’ve listened to where it’s like they’re telling the story

MC you hate to root for

Okay, so this book—Wes, the main character? Total mess. Self-centered, career-obsessed, and irritating as heck, but you still can’t stop rooting for him. He’s separated from his wife, living in a hotel, and trying to stay connected to his daughter, but then he moves in with Elias—the weirdest roommate ever. Elias is a quiet IT guy with some seriously bad luck, and something’s off… real off.

The tension is real, and when the twist drops? I did not see it coming, but I was here for it. I hated Wes, but loved how the author made me think—what was in his control and what wasn’t?

Great Book!

I really like Kiersten Modglin and her writing style. This was another great book. Just when I think I have it figured out she throws in a twist on didn't see coming. Enjoyed the story and the narrator was good, but not my favorite. Didn't do much to change voices of the characters, but his voice was easy to listen to.

Very solid plot

This was a pretty solid read/listen. I very much enjoyed the story and the characters. The plot was solid, no loose ends and it was well paced! Like some reviews say it wasn’t exactly the most shocking book but there were a couple twist that I didn’t see and I don’t think every thriller has to be over the top complex. If you like simple but entertaining thrillers I’d definitely recommend. The voice performance was solid too once I got used to his voice and he did pretty good with the female voices as well. He wasn’t trying to hard and it flowed to me.

Riveting!

Excellent story and narration. Will listen to again at a later date, since I am sure I will forget how it ends.
