Cheeky lady reporter.

This was a wonderful story, it's refreshing to find books that do not include cursing.

The Heroine is a Nitwit!

The Heroine is a complete Nitwit! She gets herself into stupid situations that require a big brave man to get her out. She hasn't even the courage to face up to a drunken kiss and does the "Woah is me" routine for the rest of the book. And the Inspector is not any better.

Really Good

I definitely enjoyed book 2! Great cast of characters and good story line. I like Gabrielle Baker as the narrator too!

Great Victorian Mystery

Another well done mystery by Miss Organ. I liked the serial killer angle, there were several mysteries they were trying to solve which kept it interesting and made it different than the first. I liked the development between Penny and James, and the narration was perfect once again. I appreciate a mystery that doesn't need gore or sex to sell, yet also isn't juvenile. I have already listened to the third and am moving on the the 4th!

A decent trip around London

Suffrage is being birthed and I still have not figured out how our main female protagonist has gotten her job as a reporter. Her infatuation with the local inspector gives a glimpse into her heart. Her father feared dead in the South American continent runs through the story line. Rookeries--slums especially the ones near the heart of things like the Strand are on the brink of destruction.on
It does conjure up visions from Dickensian courtyards run by gangs with children and widows doing their very best to eek out a living. Neighbours that care and look out for one another isn't enough to save these residents as a serial cutthroat is seemingly killing men, women and children with no obvious connection.

The narration is good in that I can clearly depict who speaking. I do have an issue with the narrator. I will make up my mind with the next book in the series if it's too distracting for me.

I recommend both Limelight and Rookery if you enjoy Victorian mysyeries. I'm beginning the third book immediately if that tells you anything.

Dreams Dashed, Hopes Rekindled Mystery Solved

A fresh story again. I love the newness of the mysteries. I am intrigued with the exactness of her presentation of Victorian life while interspersing it with the tale of a search for flora and fauna in Bogata, Columbia. you will be surprised by the end twist: Whose left?:"
