The race for survival comes to a thrilling conclusion in the heart-stopping finale to the Darkness Rising trilogy, from #1 New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong.

Things are getting desperate for Maya and her friends. Hunted by the powerful St. Clouds and now a rival Cabal as well, they're quickly running out of places to hide.

All they have is the name and number of someone who might be able to give them a few answers. Answers to why they're so valuable, and why their supernatural powers are getting more and more out of control. But Maya is unprepared for the truths that await her. And like it or not, she'll have to face down some demons from her past if she ever hopes to move on with her life. Because Maya can't keep running forever.

With all the twists, thrills, and romance that have made Kelley Armstrong an international bestseller, plus the surprising return of some fan-favorite characters, The Rising will hold you under its spell long after its breathtaking end.

Although “The Rising” completes Kelley Armstrong’s “Darkness Rising” trilogy, the trilogy, itself, is one long story — not three episodes in a series. For this reason, I advise you not to begin listening to “The Rising” without first having listened to “The Gathering” and “The Calling,” in that order. Otherwise, the story will seem disjointed and puzzling: “The Rising” picks up exactly where “The Calling” ends, just as “The Calling” picks up exactly where “The Gathering” ends. The Darkness Rising trilogy falls under several fiction genres: Young Adult, Fantasy/Supernatural, Thriller, and — yes, alas — Romance. I usually avoid Romance audiobooks; and The Darkness Rising Trilogy has all the usual Romance elements, including the one-or-more (in this case, two) handsome men (a good boy and a bad boy, of course) hopelessly, helplessly, devotedly, unconditionally in love with our beautiful heroine, never asking more of her than a little cuddling and kissing. (Hey, guys — if you want to know what women want, read Romance novels!) However, Kelley Armstrong can actually write well, and she has composed a pretty interesting plot, here. Best of all, the audiobook publisher selected the perfect actress to narrate this trilogy: Jennifer Ikeda. She has a lovely voice, and excellent acting chops, allowing her to clearly distinguish all the characters — including the guys — from each other, while always delivering the exactly right inflections. For me, the narrator can make or break an audiobook — even rescuing a mediocre book or ruining a good book — so Ms Ikeda kept me listening to “The Rising,” despite the Romance elements. I would recommend The Darkness Rising trilogy to young women, lovers of Romance fiction, and anyone who enjoys the Supernatural genre. (You 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 need to suspend disbelief here, folks.) Just remember to budget for all three audiobooks, because none of them stands alone.

Spring for the whole trilogy.

This book seemed rushed. Maya is fickle, that's all I have to say without spoilers.

Weak ending.

Any additional comments?

It was a good book but I desired something stronger for the ending to the series. It ties in the Chloe factor from the other Darkness Rising series, but I just expected it to be . . .more. I gave it a good rating because the book is still entertaining and well done. Its a fun read.

Good book overall

Would you listen to The Rising again? Why?

yes because it was a great story, but you have to read all the ones before this one. The ending answered everything. besides what happens to Maya and ash mother.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Daniel and Maya...... so strong for them to be 16 yr olds and had so many friends depends on them to make it out

Which character – as performed by Jennifer Ikeda – was your favorite?

Maya i guess

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

when Daniel is shot and Maya tells him that she loves him!

great ending to the darkness rising!

Any additional comments?

This was a great series. Anyone familiar with Armstrongs adult books will love it. Don't read this book if you havent read the rest of the series, you wont like it. The books should be read in order, to understand whats going on and follow the relationships and friendships that develop. Really good book!

Good ending to a great series!

It was a tad drawn out, but I enjoyed this final book. The narrator was very good, and portrayed the different characters very well.

Great Conclusion

I really enjoyed the series especially since I'm an avid book reader. I hope she's writes a little bit more as the kids grow up not necessarily a long series just a few novelettes here and there.

Great Series!

The third series is the best one yet. I like how she combined the chole series with mya series. I have to read it again for third time because it is so good hands down.

I love this author, and loved the series before this one, they connected but this reader was not great at the voices, she made some of the boys like mayas brother sound like a girl, then when Chloe and her group came into the story, tori sounded like a dude and some of the characters sounded less like they should and more manly or old. Like aunt Lauren I pictured her as a younger lady probably about late 30s early 40s but she sounded older. Was disappointed with the voice acting but the story was great.

Voices? What?
