I'm Glad I Discovered This!

I was following James Fouhey when I discovered this gem by A.L. Brody. The story is great, the world building is wonderful and the characters interesting and loveable - all this brought to life by the performance of James Fouhey.

If you like fiction stories about living, dying, and what the middle means, then read this book.

Ripped my heart out and put it back together.

An evocative take on the high school experience, grief, and love, "The Reaper's Son" was the story I needed after losing my Grandpa. AL Brody writes in a way that keeps you guessing and on your toes, leaving room for speculation and blowing you away when the ball drops. I'm not sure what I expected when I embarked on this journey, but this was not it; this was better. From how the author captured teen romance to tackling real life tragedy in a beautifully heart-wrenching way, I'm confident I'll be thinking about this tale for a long time.

Jason, thank you for not letting the haters get you down and following through, publishing this novel. I know it will touch the lives of so many now and in the future.

The Narrator was fantastic and the story was very entertaining and kept me enthralled.

Bittersweet

This story deep dives you into a world that feels like our own, but with unexpected twists and turns that sometimes left me laughing and other times as if I had ashes in my mouth. Life is never fully lived without death, and all things end. Grief followed me throughout different parts of this book, and yet comfort was always around the corner. A great read.

A new take on death and the reaper- great story!

Kept my attention- which is hard these days. Excellent storytelling, I loved the characters and the growth they experienced. Think this may have helped me get over my reading slump!

They said that chapter 35 would make you cry. I may have had an allergic reaction that puffed up my eyes or maybe made them water up a little but I didn’t cry!

Beautiful Read

What beautiful writing Jason Pinter has handed us in this book, The Reaper's Son. Alex is the son of death and next in line to take over as the reaper and I absolutely love him. This is a beautiful YA novel that does not feel YA at all, the story engages you from the first page, the banter is witty, it is told from the POV of a male 17 year old ready to take over his father's work, or is he? Banter is great, sarcasm is on point, coming of age love story that is beautiful, I loved this book. I also listened to the audio and it was fantastic, James Fouhey you have a new fan. Please go read this and also, Chapter 35, grab tissues, you've been warned.
