Resumen del Editor

Who am I?

This is the question Josie asks herself when a mysterious letter arrives. Then a brutal murder turns her world upside down.

To make sense of the present, Josie must go back to the start. But who can she trust when no one knows the truth? And who is the sinister stranger obsessed with her life?

The past is catching up with Josie and the consequences will be fatal....

If you like Angela Marsons, Kathryn Croft, Helen Durrant or Rachel Abbott you will be gripped by this brilliant and bracing psychological thriller.

Persevere with the slightly slow start.

Having just finished Frailty and The Optician's Wife by the same author, I was a bit worried about the slow start to this book, but well worth continuing to the great second half of the book.

I really tried...

After conflicting reviews, some love or, some abhor the book, I decided to go for it. I struggled to stay interested. Not because the characters aren't interesting, but because one is a bit too all over the place, going from being strong willed, to damsel in distress, to blacking out (though not sure if it's alcohol, which she mentions, or another issues, because she fainting and blacking out, when she hadn't been drinking too) and another character who the term "deeply disturbed" would barely scratch the surface. I don't mind reading about dark and disturbed characters, but this one was overly cringeworthy, for no real purpose. To me, you don't need that much vile descriptives to enforce the character as disturbed. (And this is coming from someone who uses the "F word" as a comma!)
I tried to force myself to listen, but only made it about 2 hours into the book, after more than a week of waiting to "be hooked" in, and it just didn't happen. Instead I would just feel unsettled and frustrated, that I wasn't getting out of it, what I wanted; which is a captivating psychological thriller.
