The year is 2105, and a violent attack on a bounty hunter in the war-torn ruins of Old Fort Worth draws the attention of Dr. Carson Ballister, the foremost scientific mind to rise from the ashes of post-Global Conflict society and the celebrated inventor of immucites, nanobots designed to repair damaged genes.

When Dr. Ballister is killed before he can complete his investigation into the attack, the unlikely team of Anton Leroux and Alex McCarthy is assigned to catch his assassin. But bringing a murderer to justice may be only the beginning. As the two detectives untangle a web of corporate intrigue, radical religion, and violent crime syndicates, a newer, far more dangerous threat emerges in the form of the Q, an out of control immucite evolving to produce horrific mutations in the human population.

Leroux and McCarthy must now work against time to catch a killer and find a way to stop a man-made catastrophe before it shatters what remains of a still fragile civilization.
