These children were supposed to be adopted and treated as family members, but this was not always the case however, and sometimes they were placed in less than ideal circumstances.

Marriage and Family from Another Era
I can't imagine being in an arranged marriage, Lydia found herself in one. the story of Lydia and her husband it's an interesting story. Adding an orphan train and three children who really need a home and you have the promise of the famil. This is a good read. if you like good clean fiction, you will like this book.
