Repetitious Snore

This book uses the same words and phrases over and over and over again. I literally thought that I was listening to the same chapter, same page, paragraph or sentence. I kept checking to see if it was the same thing; it was not. It’s just a repetitious bore I don’t know if AI wrote this and is reading it but I couldn’t get through it. Ugh, I had high hopes.

Nothing stood out except the deadness of the voice.

I didn't sense any romance here. It felt like explanations were more prevalent than actual emotion. The virtual voice was dead and didn't elicit any type of emotion at all. Very disappointed that a lot of the audio books are going this way. I may have to cancel my subscription if I am only going to listened to a fake voice with no emotion for the type of books I enjoy listening to.

Repetitive

The premise sounded exciting and sexy, all the good things that Mpreg can be. However, the writing was repetitive and unemotional. The overuse of the expressions "biological imperative," "second gender," "social hierarchy," transcend," "alpha dominance," "omega submission," "overly emotional elaboration," "molecular transformation," was headache inducing. These words appeared in every chapter, practically at the end of every paragraph to the point of nausea, and the dialogue was often unnatural sounding, which made it incredibly difficult to relate with the characters in any significant emotional way. There was a lot of "telling and not showing, " even though the chapters are written from the characters' point of view, the narrative was still too impersonal, with the inner monologues sounding at times too wordy and unnatural, almost robotic. The world building was non-existent,

Virtual Audio is A$$

This is basically directed souly to Amazon and allowing AI.

The story is good but the virtual AI Audio sucks. There’s no emotion, crap inflection and the whole read is flat. I’ll not be giving another virtual audio book a try (this is the first one I’ve tried) pay for Narrators! AI sucks! L

Some Spoilers. TLDR, the book is awful.

God that was bad. Like really bad. Like one of the worst books that I have read in a while bad. If it wasn't for a reading challenge, I would have DNF'ed it in the first 2 chapters. If you told me this book was written by AI, I would totally believe you. This is my first from Bennet, so I don't have anything to compare it too. I don't know if this is a fair evaluation of her writing style. What I do know is that this is defiantly going to be last book from Bennet.
Bennet managed to say so little while saying so much. Everything was just ridiculously repetitive.
Biology, biological certainty, biologic imperative, transcended, molecular, alpha/ omega hindmind, and so on. I would be willing to bet that she used the word "biology", or some form, at least 5000 times. It was so annoying. Find a dictionary please. Synonyms are free.
Not to mention that there were so many continuity issues. I don't know if it was because I did the audio book instead of the digital book. At first I thought I was just blanking out during the book, but no, there were definitely missing chapter. Chapter 1 talked about how Luca planed on setting up a meeting to tell Matteo about the missing $$. Next thing I know Matteo is taking Luca back to his condo. Then they kept referring to a meeting, that as far as I knew, never happened. The first time it happened I thought I missed something. Then some how Matteo got stabbed, but don't ask me how. Like there was no mention of how Matteo got Luka back. One moment Luca is negotiating his sisters release, then boom, Matteo is in a family meeting with his dad's gang. WHAT??? At a certain point I just stopped caring.

Could Matteo say mine any more. I felt like I was in a repetition hell.

AI Isn't Horrible Here

DNF. Had I been reading this story, it would have been akin to reading a high school essay where the number of words counted toward the grade. The number of repeated phrases is ridiculous. More on that later.

Disclaimer: I'm not an English major, so if a story is not grammatically correct, I probably won't notice. Also, please forgive any grammatical errors I may (will 😆) make in my review.

Performance: AI isn't horrible here. My main complaint concerning AI is that it removes the human ability to infuse the story with proper, plausible emotion. In this case, sometimes it is aggravating when AI puts emphasis on the wrong word or emphasis where it doesn't need to be. Also, in this case, it makes you laugh out loud. When AI repeats the word "mine," it sounds like the crabs on "Finding Nemo," I had to laugh 🤣 , because, of course, it's repeated in the story "mine, mine, mine," in several occasions. I didn't find too many mispronunciations other than "hind." Poor Mateo (actually pronounced correctly) and his "hind brain" (pronounced like you say hinder (as in to prevent) over and over and over... throughout.

Story: 1-star - The story itself is horribly written. The constant repeating the same words and phrases, over and over,...and over, during and after the mating scene, made me throw in the towel at chapter 8.

Frustrated listening !

This could have been a good book but the author used the same phrases over and over and over. I would not recommend it. I almost stopped listening several times but trudged through it. If this is an example of her style of writing, I assure you that I will not listen to any more of her books.

AI but makes me want other books

This story is either poorly written or 98% AI generated without editing. The chapters alternate in point of view and repeats most of the previous chapter.

At the very least, this makes me want to reread the series Irresistible Omegas/Dragons by Nora Phoenix, and Team A.L.P.H.A./The ALPHAbets/Family Novak/STAHP by Susi Hawke
