When Theater Devours the Critic In The Obliterated

In The Obliterated Man, H. G. Wells introduces Egbert Craddock Cummins, a shy, reserved young man who is pressured by his editor to become a drama critic. He’s never attended a play before, and his first experience leaves him bewildered by the exaggerated emotions and theatrical gestures. But discomfort soon turns into something more disturbing.

Dreadful reading and poor recording quality

I found it difficult to get past the poor performance and recording quality to get into this story. The ham actor's voice was grating. I could hear the tape recorder being turned off and on many many times throughout the reading. At one point I could even hear a dog barking in the background. A dreadfully amateurish rendition.
