Resumen del Editor

The entire numbers game trilogy - In one boxed set!

Book One: Numbers Game

In futuristic America, everyone wears a number. Treena's as ready for Rating Day as anyone can be - she's a top contender in Level Three school and has a highly-rated boyfriend. But when her number is announced, it shocks everyone.

To get her life and boyfriend back, Treena must go undercover and expose a military spy. Doesn't sound too hard, except that someone wants her dead. And then there's Vance, the mysterious soldier with a haunted past and gorgeous brown eyes. Together, they discover a dark numbers conspiracy, one that shatters the nation's future. Treena must join up with Vance if she is to survive the dangerous game of numbers - and the terrible war that rages within her heart.

Book Two: Numbers Ignite

Treena and Vance think they’ve escaped the numbers game forever. They’re wrong.

After Treena’s disastrous attempt to unite the nation, she has the deaths of hundreds haunting her dreams. Now, with hatred and accusations following her past the border, she’s determined to leave that horrible day behind and find a peaceful, uneventful life with Vance and the settlers. But when she starts seeing mysterious figures hiding in the abandoned cities at night and uncovers a strange desert population, she realizes there’s a danger much greater than NORA to worry about - and she just abandoned her people to their fate.

Vance is a prisoner. Being rejected by the girl he loves and put on trial for betraying his clan are bad enough, but now he’s been framed for a crime he never committed. Their less-than-perfect refuge has become the political game of a madman, and Vance is the only one who can stop it - if he can keep from being executed first.

Treena and Vance are still very much in the game, and this time it will take everything they have to save those they love.

Book Three: Numbers Raging

It’s been ten weeks since Treena returned to NORA. The council has rejected her war preparations at every turn and Dresden is backpedaling on his promises. Treena’s secret followers push her to unseat Dresden and take control - something she refuses to consider now with NORA on the brink of war.

Vance has his own set of troubles. Drought has made his settlement’s future bleak and infighting has begun. Joining NORA seems inevitable, but Vance refuses to give in - not if it means putting his younger sisters and his people in danger. Then Treena asks him to join her at the peace convention overseas, forcing Vance to choose between his responsibilities and his heart.

Finally together, Treena and Vance must navigate the political undercurrents of a strange new country, stay together despite their enemies’ determination to tear them apart, and convince an indifferent world to help them fight the most powerful and deadly foe they’ve faced yet.

Great story

It started slow, but by the end I didn't want it to be over. There had to be more. As always, a solid performance by Stacey G! Mrs. Rode, you need to make book 4.

🖤

I’m a sucker for dystopian YA series and The Numbers Game definitely didn’t disappoint. The idea of ranking each member of society based on a number on their forehead was a unique and well thought out idea. Rebecca Rode did an excellent job creating NORA and the character development of Treena and Vance was so good! I loved seeing Treena’s growth throughout the series. I definitely recommend The Numbers Game to anyone who is a fan of dystopian novels.

a trilogy that holds up

A lot of these type of series (Hunger Games, Divergent, etc) have really strong first books and then the following are weaker and weaker. I suspect the author writes the first book and doesn't really have a plan for the 2nd and 3rd until they sell the first and need to pound out the other two.

This isn't like that. All three books are just as strong as the others, keep to a similar thematic story and play to the strengths. It's a well planned series where the parts are equal in the quality and come together for an even greater whole.

Wonderful Series

I am not typically a fan of post- apocalyptic novels for a few reasons: they almost always have zombies or a biological agent, and they are almost always in the immediate aftermath of the occurrence. This series is neither and I loved it. It takes place well after the event that caused the post-apocalyptic world and the reader gets to explore a fully functioning society that is completely different than our own. It takes a while to discover what occurred and the reader uncovers the information along with the unsuspecting citizens of the new world.

Ms. Rode does an amazing job laying out the story and leaving the reader wondering and interested. Frequent readers of my reviews will know I’m already a big fan of Ms. Glemboski’s narration and she does not disappoint. As a reader I truly enjoy when a narrator can provide at least the main characters with unique voices so the reader knows who is speaking without the dialog tag.

I recommend the entire series for any reader that loves a great story, even if you are not a fan of the post-apocalyptic novel.

Young Adult sci-fi At its best

The Main characters are young but determined. They make mistakes as they try to save the world and build a future.

This book has violence, but it’s not graphic. There are several scenes where people die - main characters too. No swearing. No sex. Minor scenes with kissing.

Each book is a full novel with a story arc that is concluded. Together they tell of a girls epic struggle to survey and her dismay as she uncovers the truths behind her picture perfect world.

Great series!

I really like how original the story was. I really like Trina and Vance’s romance story. I thought the narrator also did a great job with all the voices and accents!

Had a blast and would recommend

First I will be open and say that I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Now, getting that out of the way, I turkey did enjoy this story. While I am fairly picky about narrators and it did take me an hour or so to get used to these narrators, the story was well worth it. It definitely was no where near the worst story telling I have heard and it felt like over time the actors developed.

The story was so much fun. I liked the diversity from my normal books I read, still in the sci-go/fantasy realm but not high or epic fantasy. It didn’t feel like the world building was lacking and the story was told in an intriguing way.

The story is told from two perspectives and while sometimes that muddies things, I do feel like this story would have been hurt by not doing it that way. I love the difference we get, the ability to see into more than one head, and the chance this gives to see what is happening in two places at once. (My favorite use of this is always when telling both perspectives of the same situation)

As a person who get sucked into one thing and then doesn’t stray from it for anything for a while, I can be honey when I say this took my attention. I was midway through, and at an intense place, of another series and dropped it for a week to have this on instead.

Great Dystopian YA series

The Numbers Game collection is a great series of YA dystopian books. They are somewhat similar to Divergent, Hunger Games etc. having strong female characters and trying to survive in a world where things just don't seem right. The Numbers Game takes place in a Futuristic America that has mostly fallen and has only slightly put itself back together and created a very rigid society to prevent war and in fighting from taking place again. They have instituted a ranking/rating system very similar to China's Social credit system(which is referenced in the later books) where citizens are given rankings based on their skills, looks, demeanor, class and by following the rules. Regular food has also been outlawed and they rely on nutrition pills for all their needs. The remnants of America which is now called NORA has shut itself off from the rest of the world and rules the wastelands of america with an iron fist. Like other dystopian YA there is tons of propaganda and brainwashing going on and people are literally 'labeled' with glowing numbers on their foreheads with their Rankings, Greens are the elite, Yellows are the middle class and Reds are the lowest class and generally shunned.

The story follows Treena who was tops of all her classes and destined to be a high green but at the rating ceremony she and everyone else is shocked to learn that she have been rated a Red. Her world is flipped upside down and her future and her future love life to her current boyfriend seem doomed. Treena questions the ranking and is given a mission by the empress as a chance to have her ranking adjusted. She is assigned to an elite squad of soldiers that is actually headed by a Red named Vance and from their the story and mystery behind this society really begin.

All three books are quite good and flow together well, while being different enough but and moving the story forward and changing without losing anything in the process. The narration by Stacey Glemboski fits the story and the characters quite well and made the books a breeze and a pleasure to get through. If you like Dystopian YA than this book is definitely worth it as it is entertaining and for 1 credit gives you a lot of value with 3 books in 1 for a running time of just under 28 hours.

Excellent

I’m a big fan of dystopian fiction, whether YA or not. This one is a great read. Enough tension to keep you on the edge, with a mix of young romance and powerful corruption that pulls you in until the very end. I received a free review copy of this audiobook and I’m voluntarily leaving this review.
