I loved this!!

I loved this story. It had me laughing out loud at some parts, and a
curious about seeing that part of the world.

Love BWWM series

Thus is a refreshing listen which has up to date situations. Characters are realistic, engaging and likeable.

Had some good and bad. Enjoyed

This was a cute idea for a sports romance. The driving call to action was Erik, the hero being so infatuated with Maya, the heroine, he made her a hashtag in efforts to learn her number and contact info just to find her after seeing her at his game.

The hero is originally from Norway, but his deadbeat father does live in Sweden, so he’s Norwegian born and raised, but has Swedish citizenship too since at one point he lived with his father(who was trash and got two women pregnant at the same time).

I will admit Erik doesn’t exhibit common traits of Norwegian men. Especially since he’s actually from there. They’re often not as bold as Erik. They definitely don’t like discussing personal topics like family so early on.

I imagine it was necessary to move the story forward faster, I just think people who have never dated a Norwegian born man may disappointed if they meet one in real life and he’s not as assertive. Nordic, but Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland especially are very equalitarian, so there aren’t as many gender roles. Which often means you’ll be paying half on dates and be treated more as an equal in the relationship.

This might be a turnoff for some but I would have liked to see some common traits of Norwegian men reflected in Erik. Outside of his accent, he reminded me of how authors write Italian men or American men. Especially when maya was venting about her father. Commonly, Norwegian men will withdraw from negative approaches like that in exchange for positive conversations. It’s just a Scandinavian thing(maybe not all of the Nordic countries but the Scandinavian ones for sure).

They both have daddy issues so they had that in common. It was kinda weird how maya didn’t find his language sexy; even he didn’t, which I guess is just a result of the authors feelings toward it. Maybe it was just me but the heroine seemed so aloof, close minded and annoying at times. She talked about race too much for me and when she did they weren’t conversations that actually went anywhere. Scandinavian, especially Norwegian and Finnish men love nature and if you learn their language, but she often would be so close minded about learning or trying something new. She was like the worst person to be dating a European white guy, she was better off with a boring American white boy starter kit😂

I really enjoyed the book, I just found it to be boring at times and annoying at times. I would definitely read this author again though, as I love reading about international men(just please do it with cultures you actually like, as it comes out in the story whether that’s the intention or not).

Interesting Storyline

I really liked the storyline of this book. It was a cute story. The book had several serious topics woven into it adding to the drama that some deal with today. It took a minute to get used to Norwegian/Swedish dialect, but once this was accomplished, I loved it. Erik is so funny in his thoughts and banter, made me LOL many times throughout the book. The narrators were great. Another book to add to my favorites!

When lightning strikes

Loved the story. True love is beautiful and a gift. The narrators were very good. This is going to be one of my authors that I will be looking for for books.

Story was wonderful, but the narrator's....

The story was wonderful. The thought and work that went into the culture of Norway is great. I just wished she had used Morae Brahon as the female narrator.

So...

A little too tamed for my tastes. The drama with the agent...Meh...needed more drama and mystery. The drama with Maya and her father's family. Meh... needed more emotional betrayal for that one. The drama with Erik and his family. Meh... could have been written differently for dramatic flare. It's a 3 star for me because I know that this writer can do better.

I didn't enjoy the narration.

I'm so sorry. The narration in this was not great. The lady sounded so bored. And the male's accent was a little too over the top. I've heard a lot of Scandinavian people's accents and to me they sound more elegant than this. The story itself was fine but I couldn't listen to the whole thing.
