Some viruses go after the body. But the Nightmare Virus goes after the mind.

When dream technology goes wrong, a virus spreads across the globe, trapping people in a universal dreamscape. They call it the Nightmare Virus.

Cain Cross is determined to find a cure . . . if he can decipher his brother’s chicken-scratch formula notes. But when he gets infected, he has only 22 days until he’s trapped in the mental prison forever. Now, every time he falls asleep, he must fight in a Nightmare Arena until he earns his freedom to live in the “new world” that exists only in the mind.

Then he finds a way to manipulate the Nightmare—to change it by mere thought.

Forced to navigate a world of nightbeasts, mistblades, and half-truths, Cain turns his focus to survival. When the Emperor offers him a LifeSuPod—and access to a cure—in exchange for a dangerous favor, Cain thinks he’s found a way out. But Cain’s new power threatens to take him on paths that jeopardize his very soul.

Will he continue searching for a cure, or will he swear allegiance to the Nightmare? And the bigger question might be . . . will he even have a choice?

Wow! This story goes way deeper than it would first appear. An excellent read to discuss with your child or teen and to spur the moral imagination.

I loved the slow reveal of truth in this story and how we are led to see both sides of the world. Truly a masterpiece of thought and adventure that reveals the importance of Light!

Imagination at its Best

I loved the story with the imagination and the fighting and the christan things...amazing...
but there are a few things where the story seems to rush forward without time for the characters to actually grow relation....like the romace....other than that...amazing❤️

this is a perfect mix between christan and fiction

The Nightmare Virus by Nadine Brandes Narrated by Greg D Barnett (absolutely spectacular! He did such a fabulous job! Loved this audio)

I have no words.

I am still shook.

Inspired.

Phenomenal world building! Unique in so many ways, it blew me away! I can’t even with this dystopian Christian sci-fi epic adventure. So imaginative and crazy cool.

The audio is what made it for me. Epic doesn’t even begin to describe this story. I went in completely blind with absolutely no idea what I was getting into. All I knew was that E. A. Hendryx did the cover and promoted this story and her friend so I had to try it.

It did not disappoint. I don’t want to give away anything so I’ll just say get ready for a story full of high stakes, deceit, imagination, darkness, destruction, and a sliver of hope that blooms.

A world where inventing a dream like escape turned sideways and the rules of the nightmare virus are strange and Caine Cross tries to produce a cure.

Content: dystopian, so that brings with it the element of desperation. Gladiator style vulnerability so there is violence, but I didn’t feel it was excessive at all. Suitable for teens. The Christian element/theme was actually a surprise to me and isn’t very present until the end and so it’s very hope filled and healing.

Phenomenal World Building and Unique Epic Fantasy
